This is completely speculative, but I would gather that he won't be playing football anymore. The problems are reoccurring head-aches which result from any contact, light or full. This would insinuate a much more serious ailmant than that of a simple head-ache. IMO, he has a serious cuncussion injury which increases sensitivity to his temporal lobe every hit, hence resulting in head-aches and possbile permanent ramifications. If this were the case, it would be in his best interest not to play.
Given CW's stance on his practicing and on his game-time, I would assume that this isn't just a head-ache problem, and is being addressed this way. I'm glad he came to ND where he'll have plenty of options afterwards.

in all seriousness, i agree with you that he's lucky to be at ND. the university will take care of him and he will have many options for success down the road. it's a shame that he's not able to be involved but his future health is what's important. i wish luke the best. this is something that simply cannot be messed with.
