You should get your money back on that education, sport. I never made that argument. My initial point was that the petition to ban Cam Newton from the city of Seattle is retarded. And then I added in that people in the PNW wonder why the rest of the country thinks they are dumb sports fans. "People in the PNW wonder why...".

When I subsequently offered my opinion, I made it clear that I was NOT including everyone in my opinion. So thanks for adding another anecdote about how being educated doesn't guarantee reading comprehension.

I'll leave you both with this. There is nothing wrong with standing up for your convictions. If FIL7 wants to know what is REALLY wrong with society today, he can simply look in the mirror. The biggest problem in our society today is that no one seems to be willing, or maybe able(?), to say, "Hey. You know what? You're right. I misspoke about that."

He has continually accused "people" of bringing absolutes into this discussion, when in fact, he is the only one who has done so. So, instead of saying, "My bad. I mistook what you said as being a blanket statement.", he doubled down on his ridiculous claim that others are being small-minded.

I'm stubborn, for sure. But look back in this thread: When someone pointed out that both Seattle and Portland are great soccer towns, I admitted that I had overlooked those sports, and that those fans appear to be very good fans. And I like both cities. I don't have to hate the city, just because I think that the majority of sports fans in those cities are poor sports fans.

It's ok to be proud of living in an area of the country that is highly educated. But to conflate education with intelligence is folly.
