and leyland was no slouch as a player, either, although i'm not sure what the playing record of managers has to do with the coming world series.

I'm a Met fan but I have to disagree with this. Leyland been winning for a long time, - He won in Pittsburgh, Florida, now Detriot. Willie is the new manager.

I like the Mets chances if their young pitchers can give 5 good innings. David Wright needs to kick it up a notch too.

I don't know much about the mets, but I know that Detroit has had very good pitching all throughout their lineup. If and when both teams make it, watch for Verlander, Bonderman, Zumaya and good ole Kenny Rodgers. They've been very very good this year.

Can someone explain to me how Kenny Rogers has become unhittable. I watched this guy when he was with the Yanks, and Mets, and he was awful, in fact he was considered one of the worst postseason pitchers ever. He has totally changed his reputation with his performances in this years postseason.

well, yeah, it's just been day and night. he's been having a pretty solid season, and his postseason work has been phenomenal.

also, you all had better hope your mets get out of the NLCS. I don't know which team the tigers would match up better against... where is pedro in the mets rotation?

And sometimes a guy didn't have to get a hit drive in a run. Just ask Andrew Jones when Rogers WALKED home the series clinching run.

Meh, I think the Mets would have matched up better. Im not bitter for losing....ok I am. BUT, I still think we were the better team.

I went to game 6 the other night...I was 100% sure the series was over.

When Chavez made that catch, I got the feeling that the Mets were going to win.

But they never capitalized on it and you could see that STL wasn't rattled by it.
