ESPN.com is reporting that Keith Jackson is retiring (for real) and will not be doing play-by-play for the upcoming season.

Let me just say...It's about damn time!

I know he's an icon and everything but he annoys the shit out of me. Like last years game vs. USC. Nd just scored that last TD and was kicking off too bush, of course Jackson's response was "watch out." I immediately screamed, "What does he think the Rocket is returning this or what." Glad to see him go.

i used to like jackson. then the older he got, the more his hatred of ND became apparent. and in the last few years, his commentary has been horrible. seriously, embarrassingly bad.

I just remember when Stanford was kicking the extra point w/ 1:35 left in the game and he said for the win. Or when Charlie called time out a few plays before and Keith and Dan almost had a heart attack. But I don't remember him calling the ND/USC game last year since it was at ND.

Yep. My lasting impression of him, if he is indeed gone for good this time.

Loved seeing Brady and Darius jam in right up his ass after that one.

Freudian slip there, Keith. Or just one of his many senior moments.

He was horrible last year. He probably should have retired a few years ago. He was slow on everything and his comments usually lacked substance. I can't say that I am glad to see him go, but it's about time he retired.

Keith Jackson mad libs. Seriously, try it out. Freakin hilarious.

Here's mine...

Whoaaa, Shirley! Have we got a donnybrook! It's Second and ten, sorry, make that First and 15, and USC is in striking distance after a doubling pitch and catch that netted 37 yards and resulted, actually, well it actually resulted in a gain of 12. The receiver took that ball and packed like he had a tupperware full of Chinese ice cream strapped to his microwave. Now let's see what Bill Walsh has up his sleeve. fourth down, and here's the snap. A quick pitch and he slashes for 4. Boy, that back is one huge basket of screwdrivers. You think you have him scarfed up and he lances over you like a dinosaur going after a pork chop! And it looks like we're out of time, so they will fall to... no, wait a minute, it's a touchdown. It's a touchdown apparently. He pranced through the pile and schleebed into the end zone for the score right as the clock bit the dust. And that's the way it will end, in a tie, as overtime, as you know, does not exist in College Football. For Dan Fouts, I'm Keith Jackson, wishing you a pleasant St. Patrick's Day.
