Looking back on it the Irish were probably around the 6th or 7th best team in the country. Texas, USC, Ohio State, Penn State, West Virginia are all better then the Irish, but then there are probably around 5-6 teams that are better then the Irish that were ranked below them. Brady may want to reconsider not declaring for the draft. Leinart is showing that he isn't the god that everyone thinks he was, played well against the Irish but not super human. Next year Quinn will have to face Vince Young and Troy Smith, probably the winner of the Texas-OSU game will win the Heisman. Walker is a solid back but we need that explosive guy and a power back to compliment him. Replacing Stovall with McKnight won't hurt us at all, in fact it may increase the level of play at WR. Hopefully Minter uses the off season to better the technique of the LB's and DB's and also put in many new and creative blitzes. Hopefully this new kicker can step up and play big from the start and please for gods sake can we get a kicker that can put the ball into the endzone on a semi-regular basis. This team should be a consensus Top 10 preseason team next season, tough games against Tech and Penn State could set the tone for the season. I believe that we lost to 2 of the top 3 teams in the country this year.

Going into the 2006 season, will it mirror the 1988 season. We will more then likely be the next team with a shot to beat the Trojans out in Southern California, also West Virginia could go undefeated with the team they are fielding and the Fiesta Bowl is the national championship game, we also play Penn State again.
