Maybe this is already old news...Anyone else catch this?

**************

Jonathan Stewart: Hey everybody. I guess it's my turn.

Jason, Cali: Jonathan- What teams are on your list?

*Jonathan Stewart: Washington State, Tennessee and Oregon.

puyallup,wa: jonathan. no notredame? I thouhtt you were the next great irish running back at south bend?please help bring back the glory in south bend

*Jonathan Stewart: Nah, I was really only considering Notre Dame for Ty Willingham.

mark col ohio: jonathan stewart how close are u to making a decision? and how about osu the only have two backs coming back next year

*Jonathan Stewart: Nah, I'm not sure when I'll announce, but I'm not going to OSU. Sorry.

Greg in Nashville: This question is for Jonathan Stewart and Demarcus Granger: Are either one of you seriously considering the University of Tennessee and if so, does distance from home play a factor at all?

*Jonathan Stewart: Distance from home isn't a big factor for me. When I went down there, it took me a long time! But, I'm still considering UT.

John Charles, WA: Hey Jonathan-What did you like about your trip to Oregon? Would love to see you taking it to the house at Autzen!

*Jonathan Stewart: I like the campus the best. It's real nice, the athletic facilities are very nice. The visit to Oregon went very well. I like the feel of the campus very much.

Chris (Seattle): Hello Mr. Stewart. As a member of Cougar Nation I'm real curious as to where you might be going to college next year. Has Willingham's hire at uw swung you in that direction? What are the odd's of seeing you in Crimson and Gray? Regardless of your decision, good luck and God Bless!

*Jonathan Stewart: It's about 50-50 with UW, I'm not sure where I'm going. But, yes, Ty Willingham's decisions have affected mine.

Yeah, unless we land Shaun Dewitty or Haywood pulls a rabbit out of his hat, we're not getting a running back this year. And that is a position I consider a must have.

We really only have Walker right now and it would be nice to move Hoskins to corner. Maybe Hoskins and Gardner can switch positions. Maybe Hoskins and Thomas are better than I thought.

Really? Hoskins just has so much speed...I've been looking forward to seeing what he could do as a one-two punch with Walker. Granted, we need bodies in the secondary, but who #2 at tailback if Hoskins makes the switch to defense?

I can't really see RB as a "must have" position this year, especially w/ such glaring holes in the secondary, recieving corp, and all those front-7 guys graduating. I really think Darius Walker can play, and he's only going into his sophomore year. I mean, he did set the Notre Dame freshman rushing record, so what more do we want? (hey, not everyone can be adrian peterson) Walker'll be around for at least another 2 years, probably 3-4, and we can look for his eventual replacement next year.

We have Marcus Wilson (SR), Jeff Jenkins (JR), Justin Hoskins (SO) and Darius Walker (SO) at the RB spot. Isiah Gardner transferred to Maryland or Virginia, can't remember which.

I'm not talking about his replacement! Halfback is only half a position. Hoskins or Thomas better show up then. Otherwise, Walker will be puking his brains out on the sidelines.

I still believe our receiver corps is quite good. Next year we'll have McKnight, Smardzija, Shelton, Stovall, Wooden, Vaughan, Anastasio, Grimes, and possibly Nelson and Hord. Five deep with scholarship players on both sides? If they haven't performed consistently, I'll chalk that up to coaching.

I feel our dbacks are pitiful, and we haven't gotten anybody other than Tommy Z, Freddie Parish, Terrail Lambert, and Chidedum Ndukwe who were heavily touted in highschool. Carney? Jabbie? Duerson? Richardson? Ferrine? And nobody particularly great this year either.

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far. If we fail to secure a highly rated running back next year, it will be a big blow to ND.

ND needs a first tier running back every year.

But with the way things have gone this year running back is not a big question mark.It can easily be made up for next year.Remember hoskins and walker were only freshmen we have to give them some time.People like bush and peterson don't come along every year. And in this day and age you won't get one every year because kids want to play right now. They think that they domminated in highschool so it is their right to get playing time. :allhail:

My point was that, given our current situation, the failure to secure recruits at o-line and the defensive secondary would classify as a big blow to the Irish. The failure to secure a RB that could very well wind up as a redshirt behind our existing backs is not the biggest concern on the table.

Stewart waas never coming to ND, he was stayiing in State.

Don't forget about Thomas, I know he was a fumbler last year, but I heard how impressive he is in practice.

I wanna see Hoskins play corner. He seems to want to play corner himself. Besides he has better prospects of making it to the NFL as a corner then he does a RB.
