Goodness. Did you post this on Wikepedia?

No, but I did cut and paste it

Truth is, it pretty much sums up the facts regarding Grudens tenure in Tampa, it's also saved me hours of typing regarding the countless discussions I've had since Gruden was fired.:)

Reminds me of not too long ago, stories out of Chicago, about Jay and nailing on the head (Pat Forde other thread pun) and...... Do people read his (Jay's) articles in the closet, squirreled away with a flashlight, or out in normal light????

Then why he couldn't do the same at Tampa Bay? He didn't have to put up with an Al Davis like GM in Tampa. Why couldn't he rebuild the team in Tampa? He had 6 years after the superbowl win..

02 12-4
03 7-9
04 5-11
05 11-5 lost in wildcard game
06 4-12
07 9-7
08 9-7

It looks to me Jon teams regress than improve..

First off ,I never said he was a great coach. I said he was good. It is harder to rebuild in the NFL, because most roster moves are made by a GM not the coach. Ask yourself what did Gruden take over. A team with an average offense and a great but aging defense. He won a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson at QB. Then he had Chris Simms, Shawn King, No Rb, no WR's, and a defense past its prime. What big name players did Tampa sign while Gruden was there? Jeff Garcia?

The fact is he lead the Raiders to the AFC Championship in his 3rd year, the 2 years later won a Super Bowl in Tampa with a team Dungy only won 9 games with the year before. Being the head coach of a Super Bowl Champion should not be taken lightly, it is a very hard club to become a member of.

By this statment(in bold) ND should hand over the job to Gurden, right. All ND worries will melt away hiring Jon Gurden. Jon is the savior of this program, you know why? He's won a superbowl ring and that's a very hard club to get into, so winning an NC title will come to him easily..

I think he's trying to say that the guy won a Super Bowl and has proved himself as a pretty successful coach. Not sure how you managed to jump to your conclusion considering all timm was trying to point out was that people are focusing on his last year or two coaching when his teams didn't have much talent (not really the head coaches fault in the NFL) and somewhat overlooking his success in Oakland and his Super Bowl win.

Read my other posts in this thread. My first post I said don't know if hes the right guy for ND or not. Just the minute a name comes up to replace Weis, people jump all over the person, whether its Gruden or Kelly or whoever. So I was just voicing my opinion on Jon Gruden as a coach.

Gruden runs a difficult offense an that is the reason he has never liked young quarterbacks. Look at his track record and he doesn't like youth and inexperience. Not saying he wouldn't be a good coach but the teams he win with were experienced and older teams.

I hear what your saying, but don't you think Gruden would forsee such "problems" and deal with the playbook accordingly?

As for not likeing youth and inexperience, I don't agree, he'll start the best player available to him, like any coach would. The problem he had at Tampa, was he never had that "young elite/etc prospect" to work with.
