Gotta love that Big Ten support from Tressel. Do you think a SEC coach in the same position would refrain from voting?

This will mark the fifth time in the nine-year history of the BCS that there has been controversy involving the title-game participants.

Most important sentence in that article.

The BCS is a TRAVISHAMOCKERY!

I think there's a decent chance Florida gets dominated, but I don't think Michigan would.

He's a dickless douche...no doubt he's afraid of playing Michigan again but didn't want to vote for Florida because he knew he'd catch hell for that in the press....so he abstains. He's the SDLP of the Irish peace process.

(ok, so maybe most of you won't get the reference...just trust me) :)

Actually abstaining is the right move. If he picks Florida, it's because he's afraid of Michigan, and he's not supporting the Big10, etc. If he picks Michigan, he's biased towards the Big 10, or is afraid of Florida, and wants to play Michigan again cause he knows he can beat them.

It would have been a huge conflict of interest.

Did Carr and Urban also abstain so it would not appear that they were tooting their own horn. Screw sweatervest....he pussed out. Vote your conscience and who cares what they say in the papers.

If that's true, then it's a conflict of interest from week 1 through to the end of the season.

Uh, no, because now it directly impacts who his team plays. I don't want Tressel picking his opponent. It would make the already ludicrous BCS situation have even less integrity.

I don't think you completely understand the whole "conflict of interest" thing. For Carr and Meyer, voting the way they feel will get them into the championship game. However, Tressel is a third party. His interests would be to accurately rank the two teams behind him and to win a championship. He could have easily chose the team he thought was worse. Abstaining was the right thing to do.

This is what he should have done instead of not voting. He took the easy way out because he didn't want to answer why he voted the way he did.

BTW - According to one of the Irish blogs, the coaches vote was something like 44-13 in favor of Florida. So Tressel's vote wouldn't have meant jack squat in determining who his team would play. Quit pretending that this righteous man withheld the vote that would have made the difference.

YEAH BABY! I LOVE IT. I DID NOT WANT TO SEE MICHIGAN IN THERE.

I understand how you feel...many people like you don't want to see the best teams play...they just want to see fun games.

Here's the most damning sentence of all...

"According to a BCS source, Florida moved from fourth to second today ahead of No. 3 Michigan in the final BCS standings."

He could have swung it...the coaches poll was really close.

Maybe he just didn't want the appearance of a lack of integrity. He knew it was none of his business to decide who his team played. Whoever he chose, someone would accuse him of choosing the team he thought would be easiest to beat.

Then he would be the only one... The folks who dropped Michigan two spots in 2 weeks showed their true stripes. They voted for the match up, not the best two teams.

Florida showed nothing in the last 2 weeks deserving of moving up 2 spots...

It's a sham.

For those claiming that Tressel did the right thing, you may want to look at the AP report that the USA poll are taking serious issue with him abstaining (ie. talking about dropping him from the poll altogether - probably won't happen).

The argument that Tressel has a conflict of interest, and no other coach does is ludicrous. Look at the voting disparities last year at the end of regular season (if I recall Bellotti had ND outside the top 10 in last year's poll when the Ducks were battling ND for an At Large bid - THAT ISN'T A CONFLICT OF INTEREST???)

Oh, and by the way, before you guys beatify Tressel for his honor, how about that little mistake after week 1 where he claimed that he voted for Texas #1. OOPS, only to have USA Today take the unprecedented step of revealing the OSU vote - FOR OSU. This guy has the moral fiber of some of the guys that he recruits (Pat Lazear, et al); he just wears a sweater vest so people think he is Mr Rogers.

It would be funny if he picked Wisconsin.

I agree. In fact, the voters showed their true colors all year. The way ND moved down after a win (or the bye week) illustrates this as well. I'm not getting into the anti-ND bias here, I'm just saying that these guys have an agenda when they vote. All of them. Tressels's move was a cop out. If he can't defend his vote in front of a national audience, then he shouldn't be a head coach for a national powerhouse. Grow a set and vote your opinion. Otherwise, don't vote for the duration of the season.

Let's hope that when Tebow runs left on 3rd and 3 that Little Animal nails him with a clothesline like his old man used to nail Jimmy Snuka.

Coach Sweatervest is going to tear up Florida. It's not going to be close or pretty.

This is like OSU's 3rd or 4th time in AZ in 4 years right?

I'm waiting for Lllllllloyd to come out and tell everyone that he is shocked that, while he was at home eating his cheeseburger, Florida jumped over Michigan.

Florida is going to get destroyed. The SEC is an overrated conference and LSU is probably the best team in that conference right now. I'm really not interested in this NC at all this year. Might as well hand OSU the trophy.

I'd love to see Florida get rolled over. Urbans gimmick offense is a joke. The sad thing is Florida has talent out the ass, to bad for them they have an ass calling plays.

I am having a conflict of conscience. I hate tOSU and Sweatervest, but I hate UF and Meyer more. I actually find myself rooting for the Suckeyes. Dear Lord, please make this game hurry up and happen so I can get back to normal.
