Is the University of Florida the new evil empire?

Putting all of the Cockwad references aside for the time being, Florida is rapidly becoming a National Recruiting power, (see chart) and it appears that in 2008 ND will be competing with the Gators more than USC & Michigan for national recruits. Virtually anytime that you see an article about a 2008 ND offered athlete who is high on the Irish, they tend to also list Florida as one of their favorites as well. Some recent examples, Floyd, Forst, Sweat. IMO, Meyer has replaced the Poodle as ND’s biggest and most dangerous recruiting nemesis, and I have no doubt that at least part of it is personal. This should lead to some epic recruiting battles in the years to come between CW and Meyer, assuming that the Cockwad (couldn’t help myself) stays in Gainesville long enough.

Florida Recruiting by state 2003-2008

2008 to date- 76 Offers to recruits in 19 states, 21 of those offers are to recruits who have also received an ND offer, and that number is expected to grow as at least 5 other current ND offers are expected to receive an offer from the Gators as well.

2007- 27 Commits from 8 states.

2006- 27 Commits from 5 states.

2005- 18 Commits from 6 states.

Wait until next year, most kids like whoever is on top at the current time. Although c...wad seems to be a heck of a recruiter. He must offer four years of babes and beers.

I just read that Floyd will attend a camp at FL this summer and is being recruited by Mattison (former ND recruiter who had recruited other players from Cretin Durham during his tenure at ND) so that is a possible reason why some of the recruits are overlapping.

One Notre Dame is contending for the National championship this year led by our defence not our offence(although our offence will be good). That will give us more safteys and cbs and dbs and linebackers. We our already getting enough d line. USC is going to be a bust this year so i think we will be getting the best recruits

Fla is just the "flavor of the month" right now, similar to how usc was, still is, but everyone is on fla's tit right now. As soon as some nfl team is stupid enough to give meyer a shot at a head coaching job, then they'll slide.

They'll slide this year after their 2nd and 3rd loss.

To me, it's USC until Carroll leaves. It was the Convicts of Miami when Johnson & Erickson were at the helm in the late '80s thru early '90s & playing ND. Then it was Bowden & the Creminoles in the '90s, but he's since regressed.

If Meyer does get NFL offers & takes one, it would be hard for UF to replace him w/ a comparable coach. Give the dude credit for taking advantage of his Midwestern roots.
