Irish basketball rant

This team has some of the biggest pansies I've ever seen on a basketball court. Hillesland and Zeller are certainly two of the softest players I've seen...and they should be dominating inside with all of the extra attention that teams give big Luke. Peoples makes some of the most bonehead plays I've ever seen in college basketball. He reminds me of Sasha Vujacic (without the 3 point shooting ability)...Los Angeles residents will know what I'm talking about. I don't know what happened to him (he was a decent recruit), but he does not belong on the court...and I mean ever! This team has a lot of talent...but absolutely no heart. Where has Ryan Ayers been the past 4 games? Non-frickin-existant. K-Mac? He's fantastic this year when we are either losing or winning by a bunch. Close games? Brick after brick after brick. Sorry for the rant, but this really sucks. I was expecting 2 or maybe 3 wins during this tough stretch, but it looks like we're probably going to go 0-5 now. With the exception of Luke, this Irish team plays like the Irish football offensive line...PATHETIC!!!!

Yeah I got hell when I started a thread about how overrated we are. I was just stating the obvious.

I am only going to say one thing. Ayers and KMAC combined 7 for 44 the last 2 games. There is no reason to analyze anything else than that.

Hillesland and Zeller have always been soft. I still fail to see how they are the problem right now. McAlarney is playing like crap right now. Harangody is good but he jacks up soooooooo many bad shots. And LOL at calling out Peoples. Peoples hit 2 3's, had an assist, and played solid defense that kept us in the game until the last 4 minutes or so. Peoples was the 2nd best player on the floor tonight not named Harangody for us. We still can't contain any decent ball handler on defense.

I find it hard to believe that Nash and Scott both don't get more playing time. I know Nash played some tonight but it's still not enough IMO. He needs to be out there with Gody, and Scott needs to be coming in as well. Our most athletic guy sits on the bench game after game while our bigs are out on the parimeter, trying to dribble drive against smaller, quick-handed defenders--which leads to missed rebounds and then more fast-break points for the other team.

Teams know how to guard us now, the secret is out. Put a small, quick defender on K-Mac and watch our other guys brick from everywhere, with the occasional LFH fade-away turnaround/hook. It's a simple science. We have no other contributors on this team and it's all falling apart. Poor Luke is left to do it all. Peoples can't defend--albeit he hit a couple of threes--and TJ over-penetrates. Hillesland looks like a turnover waiting to happen most of the time, and seldom hits jumpers like he did earlier in the season. Zeller can't rebound a missed lay-up, which is really sad being 6'-11". He's a shooting guard trapped in a bigs body. Ayers is 6'8" and can't stop anyone on the defensive side. His shooting is awful right now but defense is something that should be consistant. IMO, he shouldn't be playing.

K-Mac is being hounded all over the place but his defense sucks as well--which is inexcusable. So that leaves Nash and Scott who are really unproven commodities. So why not give them both a shot? Not just garbage time or spelling LFH, but actually in the a productive set. Scott can jump out of the gym and I assure you he can't be worse than Zeller and Hillesland out there turning it over. I just think we need an infusion of athleticism. Everyone we play is more confident than us--minus Luke of course. It's really sad. I think they know they're better athletically and it seems to permiate throughout our opposition. The last 3 minutes of today's game really backs up this point.

Just put somebody out there who wants to play is all I ask. Somebody who hasn't had a chance yet. Why not, could it be worse? I'm tired of losing with seniors.

Ya, I am getting worried, I love Gody, I mean love him, but he takes some terrible fade away shots. Although, I can't really blame him because NOBODY else on this team can score consistently, or has shown they can. Jackson is a stud, but not a scorer, and I like Ayers, he is a nice complimentary player, and K-Mac is usually tough, but if the latter two don't start making some of the WIDE OPEN jump shots they are getting, than this team is NIT bound, period.
PS-Zeller and Hillesland should be good for at least 10-14 points each w/ all the attention Gody gets, and right now they just aren't.

That UCONN game the other night is a big Irish win, if they make 1/4 of the wide open 3's they missed.

oh man....not again... how in the world do you miss open lay-ups? I guess we could ask K-Mac and Hillsland. Could anyone imagine how aweful the team would be without Gody...? I'm shaking my head in disgust......... Brey wants to change the starting line-up and he decides to put in Zellers...?WTF........... He's the biggest bust around....Jackson.....!!@!@#... What the hell is his problem? He is getting very sloppy..... It's time for a change.... Nash last night was causing some pressure on defense but on offense he looked a little lost. Which is ok due to the lack of playing time.... All in all........... If it wasn't for Gody... our record would be 5-14......

I'm not as big of fan of ND basketball as I am football. That being said, I was amazed that Harangody was settling time after time for fadeaway, turnaround jumpers against 'Cuse. He missed quite a few. I was born and raised a Heels fan. Against the Heels, it amazed me that the tallest player on the court (Zellers) repeatedly settled and sought out 3-pointers rather than posting up and using his length. I thought they would be better than this and am surprised that they are in 9th or 10th place right now.

Yea, im actually a duke fan for bball not gonna lie, but ND is my #2. Really sucked to see them lose at home after 45 straight, and sucked even worse seeing how good the team started in Maui and everything. Hopefully something happens to get them back on pace.

If anything last night in the big east proved that anyone can be beat. Now I am not predicting an Irish win over Pitt on saturday, I am just saying Pitt is certainly not unbeatable and stranger things have happened.
