Hughes it or Lose it

After seeming to start the season in CW's doghouse I think Hughes has shown that he can play. The question is whether going to be a factor for the rest of the season? The last two games his running has reminded me of Ray Zellars (who spent some time in Dr. Lou's Doghouse) and I think he deserves to be secondd behind Allen if not a equal.

What do you think CW do with Gray supposedly back against USC? Will he Hughes it or Lose it?

i think hughes could be a great closer. kind of like how marion barber was when the cowboys still had julius jones. come in the 2nd half and hit the D in the mouth when they're tired.

I love Huuuuuuuuuuughes! I think he just needs a little more work on identifying the best route if the hole doesn't open up as planned. I think that's why CW has AA at no.1, if the hole closes up or just isn't there he tends to make pretty good decisions on choosing the best alternate route. Huuuuuuuughes just tends to barrel forward and try and push the whole line, it can be very effective at times but ultimately not very consistent. I think with a little more work he'll be dynamite.
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuughes, I just wanted to say it one more time. hehe

AA from between the tens... Hughes from the tens to the Endzone. AA is the more complete back... Hughes is the masher.. let him get the tough yards.

i've got to show the love for my fellow hughes....he's a smash mouth runner that's been running with hate in his veins.

i don't understand the love for jonas, he looks awfully slow to me. at least hughes is busting some heads and he seems to go it much faster than jonas

I was thinking the same exact thing

I'm still looking for the break away speed Theo supposedly has. AA misses cutbacks too. I'm not the perfect armchair quarterback, but AA has the speed to make those cutbacks as they open. His head just needs to be on swivel to see them.

Hughes is a smash mouther, but he doesn't break as many tackles as Tate. In fact, AA seems to break them better to me as well. I suppose I am slightly disappointed to be honest. We're so close to being a good running team...

We'll get there; I think one huge rushing game will instill some faith in ourselves.

We are all happy for this guy-can you imagine how good this guy could really be-he was bringing it Sat and might be on our inside the 10 back. Hats off to you Robert Hughes. Now let Aldrige get a little pop against SC and we'll be all right. The offensive line has really done the job!!!!!!

I'm curious if Weis' decision to leave out Aldridge until USC is due to wanting to add another wrinkle to the offense and that is getting the FB involved in the passing game more. Seemed like his injury was bad, but not this bad

ALdridge was the only player who measure up last year in the USC game. He ran hard and fast and made some nice gains. Hughes seems to shine when the sun doesn't. When it rains and it's wet it's "Hughes Time". I recall a game in 2007 when he pounded the rock for over 120 in similar wet conditions. As far as devloping a good ground game I feel we don't give it enough of a chance on a regular basis. We died for a while in the Purdue game then we got tricky and mixed things up again. Not sure what to do against USC.
