The Beatles were more of a chick band. Recall the Ed Sullivan clips of the girls swooning to the Beatles. The Stones, Led Zep, Floyd were guys' bands.

I agree. It's about time for a Beetles thread. From Wikipedia:
Beetles are the group of insects with the largest number of known species. They are placed in the order Coleoptera (from Greek κολεός, koleos, "sheath"; and πτερόν, pteron, "wing", thus "sheathed wing"), which contains more described species than in any other order in the animal kingdom, constituting about 25% of all known life-forms.[1] 40% of all described insect species are beetles (about 350,000 species[1]), and new species are frequently discovered. Estimates put the total number of species, described and undescribed, at between 5 and 8 million.

Beetles can be found in almost all habitats, but are not known to occur in the sea or in the polar regions. They interact with their ecosystems in several ways. They often feed on plants and fungi, break down animal and plant debris, and eat other invertebrates. Some species are prey of various animals including birds and mammals. Certain species are agricultural pests, such as the Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata, the boll weevil Anthonomus grandis, the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum, and the mungbean or cowpea beetle Callosobruchus maculatus, while other species of beetles are important controls of agricultural pests. For example, beetles in the family Coccinellidae ("ladybirds" or "ladybugs") consume aphids, scale insects, thrips, and other plant-sucking insects that damage crops.

I dont care if they were considered a chick band or not......they are my favorite band of all time. The Doors and Eagles both a close second.

Roy Orbison.... Chuck Berry....

And just for fun...
"'O sole mio" is a globally known Neapolitan song written in 1898. It has been performed and covered by many artists, including such stalwarts of opera as Enrico Caruso, Beniamino Gigli, Mario Lanza, Andrea Bocelli, The Three Tenors, as well as rock/pop artists such Bryan Adams and Elvis Presley. The lyrics were written by Giovanni Capurro, and the melody was composed by Eduardo di Capua. Though there are versions in other languages, 'O sole mio is usually sung in the original Neapolitan language. 'O sole mio is the Neapolitan equivalent of Standard Italian Il sole mio and translates literally as "My Sun" (not "Oh My Sun").

WOW no love for the Beatles, im a little surprised.

They're my favorite group of all-time. I'll even listen to their early buggle-gum hits that they used to cover. When they started writing and playing their own stuff it was over. Deep, deep songwriters who revolutionalized rock. Don't get me wrong, I'll get the Led out and I'll fly with the Eagles and I'll Jam with Pearl, but as far as quality, kick-ass, deep music with longevity, the Beatles is IT for me...

Alright, I'll give my two cents. Growing up my mother listened to a lot of Beatles. They were not her favorite band but they were up there. Through the almost 23 years I have been on this earth, I have come up with this conclusion of them, my own opinion of course. Once they got rid of the mop top pretty boy shit and really started to expand their horizons whether it be spiritually or with drugs, that is when they really started to make some really good music. George Harrison was my favorite Beatles, in my opinion he wrote some of their better songs ("Something" is absolutely beautiful) I believe they came around in early 1964 but they only really started to play music in late 1965 and on. The music world is now a better place because of them and their inspirations on other bands.

Funny. Good find. Her voice scared me at first. She sounded like one hell of a man...

Not Beatles, but reminded me of Dusty Springfield. Great voice.
