I am getting ready to build a new house (or at least hope too)I have buikt/helped build several houses in the past 15 years. Only two for myself though one in 2004 and the one I'm living in in 2009. I have been looking at material and pricing things and I'm dumb founded. Everything online says 100-300 per square foot to build a common house. I can't figure out how it costs so much.
My house in 2004 was 1440 sq feet on a slab. Really nice house on a corner lot in town I sold it two years old for 99k. Had a little over 60 in it.
Current house 3400 sq ft built in 2009. A lot nicer, brick front ,full walkout basement, Custom cabinents, imported Wood floors, groundsource heat and cooling, and a 450 sq foot ND inspired bar gonna sell for 230k. Have about 150 in it.
Note 1500 of the 3400 sq feet is in the basement. It's all finished with egress
Ok so my question is. Had anyone build a house in the last couple years? How are they so high? Or are contractors making 50k per home
