Since 1989, there have been 10 QBs to win the Heisman. Andre Ware, Ty Detmer, Danny Wuerffel, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Jason White, Charlie Ward, Gino Toretta, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.

8 Busts, 1 stud, and one TBD.

Yikes

Might as well add Troy Smith to the list of busts.

I guess if I am a quarterback, I may not want to win the award if I plan on making it in the NFL.

Charlie Ward went to the NBA so you can't say he was a bust, had a LONG career with the Knicks and considering his size I would say he didn't do so bad.

He was pretty good for the Knicks, but I think that would still make him a bust in football. Troy Smith is going to be fantastic in the Enterprise Rent a Car Management Training Program, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a football bust.

There is a reason Ward went to the NBA. He, unlike the sports media, was not delusional about his ability at QB.

you cant really call Charlie Ward a bust he went into the NBA. Not really busting, just wasting his talent.

Did anyone in the NFL draft him?

No he wasn't, pretty sure he announced prior to the draft he didn't want to pursue a career in professional football. He was drafted by the Knicks in the first round of the NBA draft as a point guard. I think he also got drafted by a couple MLB teams in the Amatuer draft as a pitcher.

Who is this guy, Dave Winfield? What, the NHL didn't make a run at him too?

Charlie Ward also drove #5 Chevy Kellog's car in the Winston Cup.

And I will never forget his Billboard top 10 song: "You've seen me drive the FSU 'Fast Break Offense', now watch me drive my Chevy 'Fast Break-Fast' car"

It is also rumored, but not confirmed, that Ward won the Bassmaster of the Year award in late 1995. No Bassmaster anglers would comment on the matter.

Tiger Woods, however, gushed that he enjoyed being Charlie Ward's caddy in the 2000 PGA Championship, saying, "People think I won that major championship... but really, I was just carrying the clubs for Charlie Ward."

If he wanted to waste talent, he went to the right team. No team wastes talent like the Knicks.

If there is a place for Seneca Wallace in the NFL, Troy Smith will make a roster.

I believe Kordell will be Troy's new manager in Enterpise Car Rental's Management Training program.

I really see Smith as a Michael Robinson, or even a Marcus Vick.... nfl teams will bring him in because of his athleticism. From there, he'll be given a chance to show them what he can do as a qb but ultimately will get moved to a spot where speed and elusiveness can be showcased.

Ward went to the NBA because 'experts' told him his draftability was weak due to his height.

Ward was a great QB. But, the height factor weighs in most of the time. Few QB's make it in the NFL with their height disadvantages.

Smith may not set the world on fire in the NFL, but somebody will draft him.

Brad Banks and Michael Robinson were both drafted in the NFL, and Smith is considerably better than both those guys.
