How they voted for ND:

Jim Morse and Ted Lewis both voted the Irish higher than any other voters (#6)

Jim Morse is a former ND player and current radio personality. Ted Lewis cover LSU for the New Orleans Times Picayune

Geoff Grammer voted the Irish lower than any other voter (#17)

Geoff is a sports editor for the Las Cruces Sun News in New Mexico. His blog, complete with a poorly thought out justification for his low-ranking of Notre Dame is available here:http://grammerschool.blogspot.com/

Other Harris Poll Oddities:

Charlie Cavagnaro (former UNLV Athetic Director) and John Mackovic (former coach at Texas, Arizona, Wake, Illinois) both voted Texas #8.

Dick Harmon (works for the Deseret News) voted Notre Dame #11 and USC #14

Bert Emmanuel (former football player at Rice): voted his alma mater #25.

I'm sure there are others to nitpick, but those are the ones I picked up on after scanning the pages.

That is the reason we need a playoff.......human polls are too skewed with personal agendas

When you see how some of these guys vote and then realize that coaches vote despite readily admitting they don't watch games, it makes you realize how the BCS rankings are a joke.

I guess it is a step above the old system though.....atleast a computer is one component now whereas it used to be solely off of the human polls.

If they can get a selection committee going for March Madness, would it be so ludicrous to scrap these polls and use a selection committee for football rankings? At least they would be solely responsible for watching the games

Good idea.

Sounds like a better solution than having coaches vote for teams they coach for and against or haven't even seen on tape or television...and writers some of which have severe bias as well. The one that thought Oklahoma lost when they didn't tell me that is an ideal person to have a vote

How can someone vote Florida as number 1?

He's Jim Walden. The guy who voted Florida number one, and his reasons for doing so are subtle and reasonable:

“If you look at the Big Ten conference, it is a joke,” Walden said in a telephone interview late last night. He added: “I voted my heart and I voted my strength of what I believe in. In my opinion, Florida is the No. 1 team in the nation.”
