good tat parlors should give you instruction on how to care for a tat and what products to use and not use. i got my first tat, large and on the rib cage (very painful and sensitive area prone to post tat issues), at Black and Blue in SF. they have care instructions on their site: Black And Blue Tattoo, San Francisco: How To Take Care Of A Tattoo

mine looked great after the peeling ceased. patience. it takes about two weeks to heal with the right product. hope no damage was done

I pretty much followed those directions...and that's about what I did on my last one.

I had a flake come off today in the shape of one of the areas.....had a good amount of color in it. :(

From here on out, I'm just gonna use plain water, no more a&d and maybe wrap some gauze around when I have to wear jeans to keep it from rubbing.

It's doing pretty well now...swelling is almost gone. It is flaking quite a bit though.

Slap vaseline on it...often. Otherwise you're just flaking the color out of it.
yep....big flake came off last night...all green....really pissed me off. been keeping it greased up....most of it is smooth but there are a couple/few small patches that are rough.

fyi - vaseline is the worst thing you can do. the skin can't breathe under it and prevents the skin from healing. keep using moisturizer. also, flaking is normal. just dont pull any pieces off. let it be a natural process. the ink is deeper in your skin than you think plus touch ups are common place soon after it's done which is why most places offer a free touch up within a few months

me and my friends are well tatted collectively and have the process down cold. vaseline is a huge no no.

stuck to using Curel.....when it was still "wound-ish" I went with A&D. Once the flaking/scabbing started to show up, I went with the Curel. It's all pretty good now. Need to take a new picture and have a look to see if I need some color touched up.

Seriously??? I've never used anything other than Vaseline. I understand the skin breathing part, but if used sparingly it's worked out great for me. I guess there is more than one way to skin this cat. ;)

I have always been told Vaseline is a huge no-no too. Also, keeping it out of the water as much as possible during the healing process. I try to keep newly tatted body parts as dry as possible, even in the shower, through the healing process. I have a ton of colorful pieces and I have never gone back for a touch up.

Here's irony. My 2 brothers have have the Fightin Irish tattoo. I don't, and I'm the only one that follows ND football. They just got it cause they're Irish & like fightin. I'm pretty sure they don't even have a clue about American football nevermind NS. Idiots.

Might have been more appropriate to get a tat of a leprechaun with his pants pulled down getting ass-rammed by a wild animal or gladiator of your choosing... Tarheel, Spartan, Trojan, etc...

:( How do you get those wee icon things below ur info on the left. I DEMAND MY RIGHT TO ADD MANCHESTER UNITED. I get why Americans love their football. But baseball? It's worse than the English and their cricket. I think it's just an excuse to drink. Anyway I've decided to get an ND tattoo. But to get the Lepre would be too cliche as I actually am Irish. So I'm gonna just get the ND. WATCH THIS SPACE.

PS: I posted a new topic yesterday & it disappeared, I am shocked and/or appauled by this.

You have to buy them in the "vbplaza" section on the upper tool bar. First you have to keep posting to get vmoney. Or someone with the money can donate to ya. I think it cost about 2500.

on the top of the home page theres a "Tool bar" that is blue and gold. Theres stuff on it that says "Home, Forums, User CP, FAQ, Members List, Calendar, New Posts, Seach, Quick Links, Log Out, History, Recruiting, Game Arcade Live Chat Blog, vbPlaza, Sports Book etc etc. Click on vbplaza and you can buy your logo you want through there. I dontated you some money so you can get it. Good Luck. Hope you figure it out.

I'm as loyal to my school as any alum. Just being honest with the current state of our program. We are on the wrong side of every 'major' rivalry we have, less scUM.

I hear ya man but that ain't no reason to suggest something so permanent for a situation that we hope will be turned around before we fall off the twig! :)

Sorry, thought we were talking Cracker Jack box tattoos. Then put the leprechaun on top doing the ramming, and give the trojan/spartan/eagle a big ol' pair of titties. Go Irish.
