I've been back and forth on what tattoo to get this time, I've been debating for years. (REALLY) I'm having a hard time between my college mascot or ND. I will always love ND but I will always be an alumnus too. I may just get both. My tat now is my initials with a clover in the middle.

Love it!!! I'm about out of calves, biceps and forearms to put tats now so now I've gotta incorporate stuff into what I already have. Not to mention that I work in a high school so it's not a good idea to display that stuff. ;)
I try to keep mine where I can cover them up if need be...one on the bicep, one on the calf. Would be hard to conceal the one on the calf while wearing shorts though.....would have to go real old school with some 80s era basketball socks :)

I've not told my wife yet.... :)

I think she'll be totally cool with it because I turned her into a huge ND fan.

Well.....got home from my weekend trip to Carolina. Wife was out. A few minutes after she got home I asked her to "look at something"....Her exact words upon seeing it: "What the fuck?"

She hasn't really said....I thought she'd be psyched. About all she said was "I thought you were gonna get it on your arm?"

Oh and she checked our 11 year old son to make sure I didn't get one on him :)

BTW - My leg is hurting like hell....guess it's because the tat is over a often used muscle. At points last night I really couldn't walk on it, just kind of had to drag my right leg along. It's weird that it comes and goes. Totally different from when I got the tattoo on my bicep....that didn't hurt at all.

Sounds like it could be infected if there's that much discomfort. What are you using to clean it?

cleaning with warm water & plain old bar soap (Lever) like I did with my previous tat....once I pat it dry and wait maybe 15mins, I put some Curel on (previous tat I used A&D ointment....was thinking of buying a new tube of that tomorrow). skin wasn't red initially but was the following morning (Sunday)....still a bit red today.

Maybe I'm just a wuss? :)

Is that an antibacterial soap? When I got mine thats all they told me to use was antibacterial hand soap, and they stressed that it be nothing else other than antibacterial soap.

Just use water.

Elevate.

Go see a doctor ASAP if it continues.

Don't pay for the gimmick cures. (First-aid course at local up-to-date community college says so. I believe it.)

Never use a soap that is scented. The perfumes in the soap reek havoc on your tat. Just got another one about a month ago and it was healed within a couple of days.

I used Dove non-scented soap a few times a day and then just went with regular Vaseline to keep her moist. It's worked great for me in the past and I continue to do it. I'll put up my latest tomorrow. ;)

wow...totally diff from what I've always been told (not that I have a ton of ink). I have been using some anti-bacterial soap.

Always feels better! It's when I stand that it starts to get some pain.

Go see a doctor ASAP if it continues.
Had a reg checkup with my doc yesterday....said it's def not infected, just inflamed. So, sounds like a matter of waiting it out. Ankle up to my calf is a bit swollen still as compared to my left leg.

It might also be the type of ink the artist used. I am pretty heavily inked and I never had a problem healing and just recently, my artist used a new ink and I had a bad reaction. I never really scabbed too much on any other pieces, but when he used the new ink, I had huge, thick scabs and I had some discomfort and swelling. The only variable was the type of ink. Could also just be body chemistry at the time you get the tattoo, but the ink was the cause for me. Went back to his old ink for my latest session and I healed just fine.

yeah, I was thinking about that too.....as long as the swelling goes down eventually all will be cool. Took a shower today and just let water run over it. It's flaking a good bit....hoping I don't lose too much color or I'll be needing a retouch.

Thanks! Will do some ice tonight when I can kick back....
