While this board is for expressing opinions, please be mindful that this is a public forum and that non-registered guests can read every post. For you new folks, former players, parents of recruits and recruits themselves have come here expressing concern over critical posts of recruits in the recruiting and football forums.

And it's not just here. The quote below was posted in an Alex Bullard thread on a Tennessee football board today, after the fans there started bad mouthing the coach for not being able to keep TN recruits in state. They also started downgrading Bullard as just a so-so recruit after he announced to ND.

Maybe... just maybe... it is time for you and folks like you that come onto boards like this to consider what YOU are doing in situations like this.

Maybe you guys need to be congratulating yourselves?

The kid said early on that he liked Fulmer alot. I've also read that he DID visit these type boards.

It doesn't really take a math genius to add 1+1+1. The kid likes Fulmer. He reads John Adams and other reporters calling for Fulmer's head. He reads the negativism expressed on these boards about Fulmer and the program. Other coaches use all those things plus the positives of their own program...

Of course you guys will NEVER acknowledge that what you all post on publicly and ad nauseum on these boards has an effect on any recruit...

So, please be mindful when you post something about the 17-21 year old recruits or players. Posts about recruits/players should never attack the person. While the coaching staff is a bit different, remember that overly negative posts can still have an impact.

That doesn't mean you have to say positive things all the time, but if you're going to post something negative, it should not be personal and should be backed up with good reasons.

Give our recruits and players reasons to come to ND.

Thanks.

Well said SoCal... We have a zero tolerance policy for degrading these kids. Everyone of them have busted their butts on order to get where they are. Being a former college player that busted my ass to mainly ride the bench I'll always side with the players.

Socaldomer, I wish you wouldn't have closed that thread because I think it is of vital importance for people to consider what they say in forums like these. I just finished reading those very same posts on Volnation and those guys are railing this kid, previous kids (Tate and Harrison), coaches and each other. We do enough of that, but it is actually a little sickening to hear the depth that they are sinking to with the railing on not only these kids, but all the talent, according to them, in my great state. While this state may not be the size of Texas, I know of at least two, and now three (with Bullard) who will soon be mentioned with greatness in their Notre Dame careers.

It is imperative, whether you realize it or not, that we keep the discussion to intelligent arguments, not personal attacks on players, coaches or each other. We can certainly question players, coaches and each other, but we can do it with class and respect.

And I also implore you to go read this kids thread over there to see exatly what I mean.

It's still open to view/read. But I didn't think there needed to be a big discussion about it. I was just posting a friendly reminder for those who are newer who haven't heard that before.

edit: don't get upset, i'm gonna merge this with my thread because you made some good points.

It's a good reminder. It's also not about making sure we treat kids well so they have a reason to come here.

It's also about what ND stands for: Integrity.

Not every kid can or wants to come to ND. There are many wonderful schools out there that offer a lot to these kids. We sincerely believe we offer more than most. But that does not mean someone is dumb for not coming to ND. Sometimes people don't feel they would fit in, or they want to be close to family, etc.

And let's not forget only 20-25 kids can come to the program at a time.

So if a kid decides to come to ND, welcome him with open arms.

And if a kid decides to go elsewhere, wish him the best.
