For drunk driving. His second run-in with the law.

Is this worthy of dismissal from the team by any chance? I sure as heck hope not, but God forbid- that could send the entire offense into a tailspin. It's very important that the offense gel early and often and this can't happen with Floyd out for any period of time.

Floyd is 21 and by the tone of the article it doesn't seem like dismissal is even being thought about. Kid needs to get his **** together though. I've heard stories around campus about his drinking abilities as well as fights.

I hope he realizes how integral he is to the success of the Irish this year and even moving forward. There is a lot of momentum building up for the program, but without him playing and playing well it won't mean anything. This year is BCS or bust for the Irish which, in turn, will go a long way in recruiting and thus perpetuating this success down the road. I hope he realizes this and gets his sh*t straight.

That's exactly right. Assuming he is found guilty of this charge (he IS due a fair trial first), anyone who tries to justify it or sweep it under the rug is a raging hypocrite. This was a dumb move by someone who has A LOT to lose this year. Not only that, he's got an entire team depending on him and this is how he responds? TERRIBLE.

I'm sure we all hope the same, but how can they not suspend him for this? This isn't the first time he's gotten in trouble with drinking. In the team or university's eyes they have no reason to believe that if they don't discipline him that he won't just keep doing what he's doing.

Then someone on the team needs to knock him out, and bring him down to reality. There is no excuse for this, the kids got the world in his hands, all he has to do is not **** up. I for one take DUI's very seriously, what if he killed someone?

This flat out sucks... just when things were looking to fall into place our Star WR has to do something like this.... He should be suspended the season opener for sure. Floyd is a mack daddy on the field. He made an error in judgement, if indeed the allegations happen to be true.

If it's true and he is suspended, which should be the case, we still have a lot of talented receivers to step up in his absence.

4 Games is a bit harsh. That’s almost as much as the Ohio State crew, and let’s face it this isn’t as bad. I believe it will be either 1 or 2 games. My vote would be 2 games and make him volunteer to be Zibby's sparring partner for a while (maybe he will get some sense knocked into him).

I would say that two games would be fair if this was his first run in with the law, but this is his second run in with the law.

Let's remember Will Yeatman got a DUI and was suspended and then got arrested a second time and was suspended for a year or something like that.

Also, maybe Floyd should have entered the NFL draft this year, because he will have serious character concerns to address now.

OSU crew's violations are for recruiting stuff and the tattoo incident if I remember correctly. There's nothing illegal there, just against NCAA rules.

This is a drunk driving incident. It is much worse. It is against the law, and very easily can get people injured or killed.

This is our chance to live up to what we claim to be our standards and what we say others don't. If he's not guilty, he should sit for USF just for stupidity and putting himself in the situation. if he's guilty, it ought to be much longer.

What sucks for ND is that when you suspend a kid for games at the beginning of the season they are a lot more competitive games than just about every other team in CFB who play 3 or 4 "tune up" games before starting their conference schedule.

i do not want to rip on him, whatever is decided he should get no different treatment as others who have acted similarly just because he is an excellent football player ..this doesnt belong in the same convesation as tOSU players, Floyd could have badly hurt an innocent person on the way home to their family...just my opinion

This isn't a Jimmy Clausen type family, Floyd was on scholarship at Cretin-Durham and he has a ton of siblings. Seems really unlikely that this was a family car. The whole Michigan basketball fiasco got started over a car accident remember. Let's just hope the incident is limited to him being an idiot, if he's an idiot driving an agent or a booster's car, then it stops being Michael Floyd's problem and becomes Notre Dame football's problem.

I really hope you are not right with this Canadian. Floyd has show that his judgement is poor, let's just pray this is a buddies car he was driving. I think there would be some mention of the car not being his if this was the case. The media would be all over that by now.
