I say we sign a petition saying that we want Rick Minter fired after this season. Im pretty sure he will be after this season. His schemes are absolutely horrible. How many times did we rush/blitz Painter today? I can think of three. As for those three times, they failed to convert the 3rd down. Now it seems logical to me to keep with what WORKS. Why turn away from what works?

Im sick of the crappy defenses we have year-in, year-out. It gets old quick, but we will just have to wait for Charlie to get his team on the field. Then the REAL Notre Dame will be back.

Sorry to anyone that takes offense to this, but Im very disapointed in this teams Defense this year.

If you use your above formula, you just made yourself predictable. Same thing applies here that applies for the offense, give him time to get CW's players on the defense. We were saying the same thing about ND's offensive struggles, I think the same thing applies to the defensive side of the ball. Lets see what happens when "Ty's guys" are gone.

How long has Minter been at Notre Dame? Let's not be so quick to get rid of him just yet. I absolutely agree with marv81s just wait till some of the freshman recruits mature.

Ok, let's start a rumor. The only way I would want Minter to lose his job if we had Tenuta waiting in the wings. Watch, by tommorow this will have morphed into Tenuta accepts 10 year contract position at ND.

I, too, think it's not too early to start thinking in terms of recruiting a more mental defensive coaching staff and quit putting all the blame on the players..they do what they are taught to do. And how does one explain why this year's offensive squad is some less efficient than last years..we only lost 3 offensive players but also recruited some outstanding players who have yet to see the field of play. Still hoping for a 11-1 season and Brady winning the Heisman.

lack of execution is not totally on the coaches, you can practice plays all week, when it comes to game day, its on the players to execute what you practiced all week, lack of speed is players, piss poor tackling on defense is on the players, lack of focus on gameday, 50/50. I'm f'n thrilled to be 4-1 right now, but to say our lack of offensive/defensive success is on the coaches, i don't agree. I would say 80% = players, 20% coaches, like it was stated earlier, we are a tad undermanned right now, and that is in the process of being changed.

The Main Problem is our CB's Suck ! The good thing is we have some good youngsters in house and and some Great ones on the Way , with the Number 2 comitted and #3,# 7 highly considering .

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/school?schoolId=87&season=2007

I Say We put the Froshes in now and let them get the on the Job training , whats the worst that could happen , they get get scored on , Oh wait thats already happening with our F*#&King seniors !!
I say We Build On Our Future now, Who Knows the Froshes might actually save the season and Do A Better Job !!!! Go IRISH!!!!

The only way I Tenuta leaving GT is for a HC job. My real worry is that he goes to MSU.

Im not going to call for Minter's head yet.

BUT, I dont think you can put this on the players. Yes it is up to the players to exceute. BUT if you know your CBs are not playing well, then WHY are you going to put the SS and FS up soo close to the line???
It doesnt make sense. If the CBs are not good cover corners then you need to get the CBs some saftey help. And putting the safeties so close to the line of scrimage is not putting them in the position to help the CBs.

Who has the advantage? The WR who knows what route he is going to run. OR The CB who is REACTING to what the WR does??? The WR who is running forward as fast as he can OR the CB that is back peddling???
And in our case half of our CBs are young or simply do not have the skills to cover. This simply means that the CBs need MORE safety help.

because the safties are bizzy helping the linebackers if you look alot of people are making big mistakes you cant give all the credit to one group just as you cant blame it weak linbackers takes away from strong safties which takes away from ok cb so the whole squad is weakend and the d line hasnt helped the line backers

i like the way leo played yesterday he made some mistakes probably got beat a couple times but he was playing d knocking the ball out at the last min laying some good hits on people and wraping the things sticking out of the side of his body around people and driving through what was he hurt or something early in the season? i think he seems like a good player but it all boils down to mental toughness got to put the blinders on

Given how many Freshman he is playing right now...I will give him time. The secondary was HORRIBLE and decimated the years before he got here. He is trying to make something from nothing.

Let's face it the guys playing corner who are not Freshman are all converted SOMETHINGS. He's trying to make lemonade with lemons...

wow that was pretty confusing, im not sure what you just said.

Lets put it this way. How do teams score against us this year? WHats the number of 15 yard runs we have given up compared to the number of 30 yard passes we have given up? I think our D-line is doing good this year. Our linebackers are capable of stopping the run (especially with TT). But our CBs are not capable of covering. Where should the SS and FS go??? Should they be within ten yards of the line of scrimmage against Purdue that is a PASSING team??? Oh thats right they were helping the linebackers and D-line stop the high powered Purdue running game:jerkit:

Im not signing the petition Im just saying that the Scheme needs to change!

Can't agree with firing him yet. I agree wtih Marv. We are overclassed right now on defense, and while I cringe every time we go on defense, we've come up with some big plays many times this year. Let's wait for a couple of years then see.

The DL doesn't get through regularly, the LBs are athletic in one phase of their game...not multiple phases like real athletes, and the Secondary gets left out to dry quite a bit b/c of lack of pressure. I like the blitzes that Minter is calling, and I think it is fine to blame the players, b/c they flat out don't have the talent to get it done at the moment. Calling for the ousting of Minter is a bit ridiculous...at least at this point in the game. I think he legitimately gets the 3 maybe even 4 year rule.

The D isn't where it needs to be yet, but I continue to see improvement over last year. As long as we continue to improve and don't stagnate, I'll be content to keep giving Minter more time.

But the D isn't where it needs to be yet.

This thought actually entered my brain during the game yesterday a couple of times.

Then I thought better of it.

No Wooden, No Thomas. They WERE without two starters.

Rather than hang Minter out to dry, I'm calling out Tom Zbikowski. I don't think he's playing well at all, defense or special teams.

Things have to get better against this "easy" portion of the schedule. And you'd better watch out for UCLA.

I've become numb to the fact that this team is going to give up a ton of passing yards. It is inevitable and is simply the biggest most obvious weakness on the team. They're 4-1 despite it, so be thankful.

I wouldn't sign this petition. I can't evaluat Minter for another 2 years when he can have real CBs playing CB, instead of a bunch of wide receivers and linebackers playing CB.

Nope what is is. Guys were bad mouthing him BEFORE the Ohio State Game last year in Blue Gray Sky. He didn't inherit a whole bunch and all you can do with a bunch of lemons is make you know what. I know it's no ones Kool aid.

I'm not a huge fan of Minter or his schemes either, but I do wanna see what he does when the defense has as much talent as the offense. If its still this inept, then I'll sign on the dotted line.

And this is reason #1A why I want to wait it out.

I see the offense with an NFL QB, TE, and 2 WR. That's pretty good.

I see one sure fire NFL player on the defense...Abiamiri. The other ten are all middle tier NFL caliber players. I still think Michael Richardson is on the rise and Tom Zbikowski's arrow is pointing down.

The speed, sense of urgency and brutality they are recruiting is on the way. I'd like to see how this talent translates to Minter's scheming.

I agree. And it's not only about caliber of current players (though that plays a huge role) but how they fit within the schemes. Specifically, there isn't enough strength at DT to hold up under these schemes.

I have faith and confidence in the guy...heck he beat the mighty Florida State team of 1993, if he gets the right guys around him which they are trying to do he will be fine.
