Sorry guys, as I am sure you all have had about all you can take of the whole Quinn v. Russell debate with the draft looming ahead I just couldn't help but post this. Its one of those "What If?" articles written on ESPN that talks of the whoe Leaf/ Manning debate.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2750640
"Manning was viewed as the conservative choice, while Leaf, who had a considerably stronger arm, actually was thought to have the bigger upside. Indianapolis ultimately went with Manning; while San Diego traded up to the second pick to land Leaf, inking him to a contract that included, at the time, the largest signing bonus ever paid to a rookie."
I think thats my favorite part. I can't help but enjoy the "bigger upside" and "stronger arm" comparrisons while Manning was the more conservative choice.
The parallels are mind-blowing, its almost the exact same debate as it is this year, however I don't remember Manning having as much bias towards him as Brady does, but who cares. The basic points are Manning was the long term starter at Tenn. whle Leaf had an impressive junior season and chose to leave early because of that "incredible upside and strong arm". I guess the NFL and those ESPN experts will never learn and continue to hype the flash in the pan player rather than congratulate and praise someone with a strong work-ethic and talent. Oh well, whoever is smart enough to pick up Brady will surely get the Manning in this years QB debate.
