Kelly's brilliance has been to adapt the scheme based on which QB was available to him. Look up his run at Cincy.

Yes, at Cinci that was the case.
It certainly seemed to take him some time to do it this season.

I'm just glad that the team is finally buying into the system (according to Kelly).
I'm hoping they come in and dominate Army...the D better be up on itself after beating Utah around so nicely. I would like to see some mop of duty playing time for some of the young guys this week.

I have seen the rumors of Dayne Crist transferring, not attending the last home game and other ridiculous comments. I will admit that I have been a bit dissapointed with Dayne's performance on the field, but I am still a big fan of the PLAYER and PERSON.

I still remember him showing up for a spring game prior to help recruit for his class several years ago. He stood behind JC for 3 years. He has done absolutely NOTHING to deserve the treatment he has received over the last few weeks on here and other ND sites. The guy has been a class act.

I wish him well and hope he comes back healthy. I am sure he will be given the chance to compete just like every other QB on our roster.

So, for those who were bashing his attendance to the game last week. Here is your answer: Crist is immobilized after having surgery on his ruptured patella tendon, so he can’t get around practice much. Crist sat in the booth for last Saturday’s win over Utah, but was not cleared to travel this weekend. Senor running back Armando Allen, who is also out for the season after having hip surgery, won’t be traveling either.

As for his commitment: The guy Rees is replacing, Dayne Crist, still attends all of the team’s meetings.

“Dayne’s still learning and absorbing a lot,” Kelly said. “He’s staying engaged. I don’t know that there’s a lot of information that is flowing from Dayne to Tommy…He’s at meetings, he’s still asking questions because he’s still in the learning process himself.”

Look dude What is Dayne going to do Quit ! If I were Dayne I would do the same thing, but the realty of it all nobody is attacking his character we just dont think he is that great of a QB. He can throw a ball further than anyone I have seen but he does not have the instincts of a great QB.

It stinks but its a doubleedge sword being quarterback at this school. I will say this not to many quarterbacks could adjust to such a change of systems like he did . He was awesome before he got hurt in Michigan I hope he gets better soon no matter what he decides to do he will be Notre dame guy forever .

Yeah it's nice to see Kelly FINALLY realizing he can't run HIS offense with no changes based on the athletes available to him.

Kelly stated at the start of the season that he knew he couldn't, and had no intentions to, fully install and run his offense with the players available to him. He said he was given the best running game he had ever had. Kelly hasn't tried to completely run his offense or system since he came. He hasn't "FINALLY" realized anything. He knew it before and hasn't tried. But in the next year and beyond we are gonna be good!

The only flaw I saw in his game was the long throw accuracy, which Quinn had problems with initially.

Daynes got a confidence level in himself that I don't see yet in the other kids. I enjoy watching him play, and the fact is, if he doesn't make it as the starter, we have a guy I would feel 100 percent confident in if someone went down, and that is huge in the Brian Kelly offense.
