-How sad is the state of Illinois that our Democrat governor that is being accused of wrongdoing in hiring, fundraising and contracting was re-elected 49% to 40% ? Plus, he and his cronies are stealing from the teacher's pension fund. Sickening.

-Looking forward to seeing my taxes going up. Also looking forward to working until I die since I won't be able to retire. Get your Christmas shopping done now before the interest rates go up out the ass.

-Did we elect the Democrats or just reject the Republicans? Quite frankly, my options this year were like trying to decide between elephant dung and horse sh*t.

- Did the Democrats have a platform? Did anyone? All I saw was mudslinging. I don't think the Democrats had a platform on anything and the Republicans had their priorities ranked improperly.

-Republicans dropped the ball by making homeland security their top priority. News flash: IRAQ, IRAQ, IRAQ. Other than Brittney Spears' divorce, is there anything else bigger in America right now besides the war? Probably should have went that route, but it's too late now.

-I guess now we'll find out how this country is supposed to be run, right?

I lived in the western suburbs of Chicago for 25 years and then got relocated to North Texas...you have no idea what it's like to live in a place where religion rules politics. I would take corruption any day over religious zealots. They are all crooks...but at least in Chicago the crooks make the city work. Chicago is still the greatest city on earth...you don't believe me, come to Dallas.

Chicago and Springfield, IL are two completely different towns, as I'm sure you know.

Chicago is also full of Democrats, so you have to live in the Burbs or outlying areas for any kind of sanctuary.

Not the candidates themselves. Your neighbors.

But you're right. It is like choosing between a douche and a turd sandwich.

Severely disappointed with the results. Dems only platform was bashing Bush, they offer no new ideas. Now we'll have some left wing nut in the 3rd most powerful position in our gov't. Nancy Pelosi is a f'n nutjob, that was reason enough not to vote for the Dems. Bush better get his lawyers ready, I'm sure if the dems win these last two senate races they will try everything to get him impeached. NSA wiretapping program, GONE! Homeland Security Act, kiss that goodbye next time its up for renewal. War on Terrorism, I'm sure the Dems are knitting the white flag right now. I was disappointed with IL too, thought for sure that asshole would get voted out. He's making one of my jobs so difficult on the workers' compensation front. IL's workers' comp laws make it impossible for an employer. Its getting as bad as California's situation was with workers' comp. No idea how this shit affects employers. The Dems say they'll only tax the rich, problem with that is that they think we all make too much money. Very sad day.

At least we received another verbal!!!!!

Not a lot of whining about voting irregularities today.

Guess that only happens when the Republicans win.

Anyone hear of any this time around where you live? I'm sure someone is crying foul somewhere.

Terrorists got a big win yesterday for their cause.

... american citizens not getting spied on without due cause, probably a good thing.

anyway, i'm pretty happy for no other reason than a lot of people that didn't deserve their seats didn't get them back. see here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=S6yeUYBIbGU

that and, since one branch of government is one party and another is another, a lot less is going to get done. and with some of the stuff that got passed the last two to four years, a lot less damage is going to get done when congress and the president can't agree on anything.

who says that we were being spied on? I don't call anyone over in the middle east and if someone does, I would like the gov't to know about it. I don't want to see another 9/11 happen, because when it does happen over here again, I believe its going to make what happened on 9/11 pale in comparrisson. I don't care what our gov't has to do to stop another attack from happening, just do what they can. Besides, they don't need a warrant to listen to calls overseas, they have a certain time limit to get a warrant if one of the callers is here in the states and if it is two callers here in the states, then they need a warrant beforehand. We weren't listening to calls within the US, it was calls from/to here from a person in a certain region in the US and/or a person of interest.

My fiancee is a teacher and our piece of crap turd governor and his Democrat pals are taking money from their pension fund....and getting away with it!! And we spend DICK on education here in Illinois....49th out of 50 states, sugar.

I think we're both going to start drawing Social Security in our late 20's.

On the brightside, we have another election in 2008 and hopefully the Dems will f*ck up enought to get the Republicans back in. Yesterday was a big win though for terrorists. Dems are such f*cking pussies that they aren't going to do anything but try to appease those bastards.

I'm very curious to see what they're going to do. Personally, I don't think there is a plan at all.

I don't think I'm going to vote again until someone comes along that is worth my vote.

I thought the same way about voting, but if we don't vote for at least the party we favor, the other party will take control.

I agree that change is needed, but I still have no idea what kind of changes anyone proposed.

The whole politics bit is just far too rotten and confusing for me. It depresses me to no end.

I live in Illinois, work for a small business and the woman I'm marrying is a high school teacher. In 50 years, I'll probably die at my desk.

I mean, what more do you want out of life. More terrorists, more weapons of mass destruction. YES!!!!!

This is freakin ridiculous. Please note the sarcasm by the way before you call Ashcroft to come to my house.

Times are going to get tough for small business? How so? The Dems are the party of small business. In fact, the mac daddy of small businesses was Bill Clinton. He fundamentally changed the landscape that allowed more to survive than ever before.

Republicans dropped the ball by running the country like crap for 6 years.

Fiscal Responsibility? NONE
War in Iraq? HORRIBLY MISMANAGED
Ethics? MORE CORRUPTION ON LARGER SCALE THAN EVER BEFORE
Funding for troops? DIVERTED TO PET PROJECTS IN AMERICA (Chuck Grassley took $55 Million from the $87 Billion supplemental funding measure to fund a BIODOME in Iowa)
Armor for troops? Delivered YEARS late.
New Jobs? LOW PAYING.
Wage growth? HARDLY ANY.
Federal Budget? BALANCE THE BUDGET...NO THANK YOU!!!
Federal Spending? LARGEST INCREASES SINCE FDR.

I cannot think of one major item they did right in 6 years. Not one.

I'm not sure about most other places, but locally we're going to get the shit taxed out of us because certain people won certain elections. Things are about to get real rough if these folks implement some of the things they intend on doing. With a little luck, maybe none of it gets done but we're not counting on it.

I can line up dozens of small business owners that will tell you all about what Mack Daddy Willy did for them. A few people's landscapes are fundamentally fudged right about now.

We have one of the WORST governors in the country. With what we're doing for education, this state is going to churn out nothing but a bunch of morons for the next decade. Take what Arkansas was under Governor Clinton times two. It is beyond pathetic to see where this state currently stands. The man has done NOTHING for education, unless you count taking money off the teachers' pensions something, and he gets re elected. Thank you Cook County.

And the country as a whole isn't much better.

Whatever they intend to do, I pray that they figure it out soon and it works. This is a great country to live in....the best. I just hope these jokers do their jobs well and do them right.

Breath not being held.

Wow, where to start on this? Let's see, you have to spend money for the two war fronts. You can't tell the troops to go fight and not pay for the ammo, vehicles, fuel, munnitions, all that other "stuff" they need to fight a war. Unless your Kerry, you can vote for the war, but vote against the funding.

Not too mention the money needed to build Iraq and Afganistan, unless you want to leave them high and dry again and piss everyone off and have them hate America more.

Two major hurricanes and the money that was needed to pay for those damages, there is more gov't spending. Not too mention the several storms that swept through Florida and more spending, wildfires galore. Then the huge amount of money that we spent on Tsumai relief, once again the US stepping up. The large sum of money that Bush sent to AFrica for AIDS relief. Oh yeah, then that little event that Dems seem to forget about, what was that, oh yeah 9/11. The astrominical amount of money that was needed to build up a non existent homeland security department and all of the departments that go into it.

I will admit that Republicans spend, but so do the the Dems, only thing is, they pay for it when they raise our taxes. You want all these newly created jobs to pay higher. Fine, your going to put a strain on the those smaller companies to pay more. they are getting minimum wage. Hilary had plenty of time to get on Wal*Marts ass about their pay and lack of benefits when she was on their board, but never did, till election year. Very of the people she is. Both parties are guilty of corruption and deceipt and totally unncessary spending, don't try and pass it off on all the Repubs. Both have very dirty hands.

Dems said they would only raise taxes on those that make over 250K, well there is several of your small to medium sized business owners. And you want to tax larger companies, then you can say bye bye to them as more and more will go overseas. They should receive some benefits for staying here in the USA and supplying jobs to Americans rather than moving overseas shouldn't they? I think they should

They are not for the middle class. Do any of them, any of them, have an idea what it is like to be middle class? Hate politicians, but I didn't care for Dems this time around, or last time come to think of it. Like Jigga said, what is their platform, what are they going to bring to the table that is new, what is their strategy? Their in power now, so they can't just sit back and blame Bush anymore, easy to sit back and throw stones and use hindsight as judgement and say, "I would have done this and this", let's see how quickly they f**k up our growing economy and job market.

The only good thing about the Dems that got elected into the House, is that a lot of them APPEARED to be moderate Dems and not far left crazies like Kerry, Kennedy and Pelosi to name a few.

This is why we need a legitimate third party.

Black, white, no gray.

You have one guy telling me that Clinton was the best thing to ever happen to small business owners, but I've known dozens in 3 years of doing sales that would assume he was the worst thing that ever happened to them. I work for a father and son business and they're not real thrilled about yesterday's results by any stretch. None of us are wealthy men by any stretch, but this will hurt.

I am related to and friends with more teachers than I can count. I can't speak for everyone else, but in Illinois Democrats could give two shits about education. They cut and run at every turn. 49th out of 50, baby.

I did not vote straight down the ticket on either side. I have to admit, my ballot was a mixed bag. But I lost on quite a few, so now that some of these creeps are in the REAL losing is going to start.

I don't care what party they're from....DO YOUR JOB. They betray our trust on a daily basis.

Don't forget about health care, I had ankle surgery this year and my total out of pocket cost, including premiums, copays, coninsurance, etc will be close to 6k, this is the true crisis(and terror) we should all be talking about...

the reps were facing an uphill battle from the word go. History tells us the 6 yr election for two term presidents always go anti president. Couple that with all the fact that thing are going poorly in Iraq, all the fraud, they had no chance.

I'm just glad the religious right isn't in power yet, scary, very scary.. Almost as scary as John Kerry as president, thank god that didn't happen. I think independents like me are finally having their voice heard, extreme is not the way to be and we are sick of it.

His support for the SBA and his tax cuts for small businesses helped to fuel economic growth a lot.

Clinton was always a believer in business and job growth.

Glad you did that Marv. I'm too spent and disgusted.
The vote 'against' usurps the vote 'for'. Sad.
What the hell is happening in Ohio and Pennsylvania? You people are going soft.
I've never seen an emptier 'vessel' than that of Bob Casey.
The freakin' guy never said anything. It was literally jibberish coming out of his mouth.
Santorum was the adult, Casey the child and nepotism wins. Unreal.
Pennsylvanians should revolt. Your state has been commandeered by New Yorkers fleeing the city.
And now you're stuck with their values.
I suggest concertina wire and gruel to keep them cordoned and fed.

The House leadership now looks frighteningly liberal.
Nancy Pelosi ?? She's in WAY over her head.
John Conyers? Charlie Rangel? not too mention Harry "Dull as Dishwater" Reid? Howard Dean?
The Democratic leadership is an exceptionally WEAK group of politicians.
What a sad day for the republic !!

NON-MILITARY FUNDING has grown at rates higher than anytime since the 60's.

Yet again you bring up funding that came well after the Republicans blew up the Deficit.

Hello Medicare bill...

I will admit that Republicans spend, but so do the the Dems, only thing is, they pay for it when they raise our taxes. You want all these newly created jobs to pay higher. Republicans spend like drunken sailors but put it on credit card.

Democrats spend like drunken sailors but they pay for it in case.

Which is worse?

Dems said they would only raise taxes on those that make over 250K, well there is several of your small to medium sized business owners.

No...business taxes are NOT personal taxes.

And you want to tax larger companies, then you can say bye bye to them as more and more will go overseas.

That's exactly why the Dems have pushed for corporate tax cuts in areas that stimulate job retention.

They are not for the middle class. Do any of them, any of them, have an idea what it is like to be middle class?

The Republicans don't...they are killing me...

The only good thing about the Dems that got elected into the House, is that a lot of them APPEARED to be moderate Dems and not far left crazies like Kerry, Kennedy and Pelosi to name a few.

Most are moderate. But people like Pelosi and Kennedy represent their districts (which are very liberal)
