there had to be some reason he didn't come back, he had to have had a falling out with weiss. he was so fucking inconsistent his whole time here...just take the bowl game last year...he got like 150 yard in the first half and like 10 in the second half...wtf is that?????

The team as a whole did nothing in the second half. As far as him saying he'd accomplished all he wanted at ND....I guess he didn't care about winning a bowl game!?

the window of opportunity in the nfl is quite small, especially at running back. when comparing last year's class with the potential class this year, including the standout juniors, i think walker took a calculated risk that his potential to be drafted and make a team was greater last year than this year regardless of competition at notre dame. he crapped out on the draft, but hopefully will succeed in making a roster and getting a chance to prove himself. as for his degree, he can come back to fulfill the requirements, which all indications point to him taking this course of action. as long as he does that, i can't blame him for grasping at the brass ring of pro football. good luck to him.

Even though he would have been supplanted, he should have at least stayed to get his degree... IMO

I was under the impression he was still planning on getting the degree, although who knows how that will go. his mother promised he would get it for sure.

Did someone ask him "WTF were you thinking?"

He was thinking he had 2 1000 yd seasons at ND, had maybe his best game in a BCS bowl against LSU, and was facing returning to a "rebuilding" offense with tons of RB talent on the way. I even thought he'd be a late draft pick, but I can't blame him for taking the shot when he did.

Back to the the question who advised him to leave........that would be Jimmy.....not as in Clausen but as in Walker. His dad messed with his truly talented son.

atleast he already has tons of cash in the bank and doesn't have to worry about feeding his family with an NFL paycheck.

i like the kid and i think that he will make ND proud no matter what he does. i hope he finishes the degree.

sooooooooooooooo darius got some playing time today!

darius rushed for 46 yards on 36 carries and had 6 catches for 35 yards.

not too shabby. good to see him on the field though.

EDIT: okay, my bad. he had 16 carries not 36. typo. if he had 46 yards on 36 carries, that'd really suck lol.

I can't believe this thread is still alive.

Nice kid. Really. Nice folks too.

But he was a step slow when he came in and he never got a step faster.

With DW, what you saw as freshman was what you got. Not enough speed to take the outside and too small to work the middle.

P.S. He was nuts to come out. I also can't believe someone in the know didn't give him an honest assessment.

Perhaps he saw this year's Offensive Line coming, and decided to get while the getting was good?

He never asked Weis. He avoided talking to him. I thought that was pretty lame given all the love Weis showed him publicly.

However, he would have been passed up by Huges and Aldridge, so it was best that he left I guess.

Walker had 13 rushes for 66 yards, and a long of 14, last night. Dayne also ended up playing, though, and had 11 for 67 and a TD. Great job, D-Walk!!

yeah darius had a pretty decent night. they only gave him 1 carry in the redzone. he did a nice job with the blitz pickups too. the 14 yarder was pretty nice. it was a stretch play to the right, but darius cut it back to the left and broke through a facemask for an ice 14 yard gain.
