The baby is good. His latest development is a hoot: since the agony of that first bath, we've figured out that the best way to get the kid in the water is for him to go in with his mama. He was starting to enjoy it, so the other day we put him in in the morning to calm him down (and let him get out some energy) before a nap, and -- since it worked so well -- also in the evening before going to sleep for the night. We'd also managed to work a little bit of baby massage into the bath, so it was basically just a time for him to splash a bit and swim around while enjoying some good bonding time with mom. Problem is, that one day was all it took for him to decide that baths are great, and now he fusses for one twice a day. Certainly not the worst development in the world, but my wife's back is starting to feel the strain of sitting upright in the tub for an hour-plus daily.

One other great story: the other day after finishing taxes we decided screw it, let's put the baby in a sling and go to happy hour. He hadn't had a nap yet, so we figured he'd sleep the whole time. Turns out he was in no mood to sleep -- he nursed most of the time (they do this constantly when a growth spurt is coming up) and decided to come up for air every twenty minutes or so, sitting there quietly and looking around the bar with his big wide eyes. He was a real hit ...

ok, I guess it's sorta a game, but it is just not the same. but at least it's better than nothing. It will have to be a temporary fix.
