Randy Edsall Q&A: Recruiting has 'gotten out of hand' - Dave Curtis - College Football - Sporting News
7/16 CON coach Randy Edsall did an interview with Dave Curtis of The Sporting News. The article covers several issues, changes to the football team, recruiting, and playing ND so I'm splitting it to fit with various discussion forums:
A: Donald was a special back and was very good, but we got a couple good backs here in the program that can line up and do things. One thing Donald will tell you, with a running back, you have to have talent, but it's the people up front.
Our running game is going to be the same as it was a year ago. Now what you want is guys to step up and take the place of what he did. I think Andre (Dixon) is a little more hungry. Jordan (Todman) still has a lot to prove. With Robbie Frey, Kelmetrus (Wylie), somebody's got to take it. One of the things that could help us is that we expect to be more balanced this year than what we were in terms of doing all the stuff in the run game.
Q: How is your passing game going to be different?
A: What we've done, Joe (Moorhead, new OC) has come in and revamped the whole thing. It's get the ball out of the quarterback's hands a lot quicker and trying to get people in space. But the biggest thing is getting the ball out quicker than previously.
Q: How different will the offense look come Labor Day Weekend?
A: Well, it's not a spread offense. It's a multiple no-huddle offense. The run game won't change. The passing game will be different, but there are only so many concepts you can have. We just hope to be more balanced in our offensive approach than what we have in the last couple of years and be more productive throwing the football.
