I talked with a couple siblings about this. We all played, all of us have been knocked out cold, saw stars and the like. All of us graduated from college and are productive citizens. I think people need to take a long hard look at the lifestyles many of these pro athletes lead (steriod and other drug use in particular) as well as certain personality types that seem to thrive in a pro setting before concussions can be assumed as the cause for everything under the sun.

I don't think I'll be letting my son play football for this reason. We'll see though.

I totally agree with this belief because I have also been telling my friends the exact same thing. I agree with this because in the early 1900s, they were playing football in leather helmets and they did not know what a concussion was like we do now a days. Why have we never heard of these players committing suicide or having other brain trauma. Did it go undocumented or did the media just mush it aside? Then another example of mine comes from rodeo. Bull riders have a lot of concussions in the same year and many through out their career, but you haven't heard anything about their brain trauma. Maybe because it isn't a major sport so it gets passed over by the media.
Just a little theory I have for the concussion crisis. Hopefully through the years we learn more and more about this injury.
