Biggest surprises for 5 star recognition amongst both lits (no particular order):

- Jon Major
- Kavario Middleton
- Brandon Barnes
- Lucas Nix
- Dieon Walker

- Forston being left off Rivals' list
- Brewster being left off Scout's list
- Arthur Brown at #15 for Rivals

However, the individual rankings for these guys are usually a load of hooey. Brady Quinn was rated the #10 drop back passer by rivals... guess who #1 was? Kyle Wright. And remember a blue chipper by the name of Fred Rouse? Yeah... there's a million cases you can point to. Your best bet is to look at the ballpark these guys are mentioned in, rather than pull your hair out saying, "I can't BELIEVE that rivals has two different linebackers ahead of Arthur Brown!"

... And, if you're a Notre Dame fan who wants to feel warm and fuzzy, listen to Tom Lemming mentioning Hafis Williams and Lane Clelland as 5 stars

Just for the record, I think Brewster is #26 on Scouts list so if it were expanded to 27 for Scout, he would be a 5 star. I'm surprised by the disparity between the two lists. I think it just goes to show how different groups rate different things (and it obviously helps that they put a lot of emphasis on the kids that go to their camps).

GD3, I'd agree that those 5 you listed were the big surprised and I'd add Simmons in there as well not necessarily cause he's not good and not deserving, but since he hardly played last year, how does anyone know?

Thats a really good point. You have to figure that trying to rate a highschool kid's ability to play at the next level is very subjective and vague. The range of talent within teams, divisions and states is so vast that it is incredbily hard to compare a running back from Ohio to one from So. Cal. or a QB from PA to a QB from Alabama.

The point is that I think Golden Domer has it right when he says to look at a player's value by the company he is associated with. I mean, hey, the pro scouts can't even get this whole scouting thing down right if Jamarcus Russel is valued higher than Quinn (soory, i'm still just a little bitter).

Quick question. How many guys on the combined 5 star lists use their initials as their first name, and what do they all have in common. First person with the correct answer to both questions gets a 100,000 vBucks donation from me. I can't even stuff all of this cash under my mattress anymore, have to get rid of it before the InternetIRS comes looking.

Incorrectamundo! Only count their name one time if they are on both lists and I also need what is in common about all of them.

BTW, I just checked the current ESPN 150, and they have 28 recruits with Scout grades ranging from 93-84, which would be the equivalent of their 5 stars. Not surprisingly, of the 28, the ESPN goofballs have 12 who do not have 5 stars on either Scout or Rivals.
