Some of his analysis from Blue and Gold Illustrated in regards to the incoming class not named Demetrius Jones. Again, expect Raeshon McNeil and Toryan Smith to get on the field this year. Anyone with an ounce of experience in the game of football who has seen them continues to say it.:

Jashaad is a big-time hitter. His effort is great and he loves contact. Coach Lewis will have to work a bit on his form and bringing his legs after contact, but I like that scenario better than trying to get a guy to become a hitter. -- On Jashaad Gaines

Defensively, “he brings it.” He is a striker, meaning when he hits a running back or receiver there is no hidden yardage. Where he makes contact is where they stop or where they return to their side of the field. He is a big hitter. -- Raeshon McNeil

Based upon his size and relative athleticism, this young guy has the ability to play a number of positions. He moves extremely well for a tight end. Paddy changes direction well with relative athleticism to the position. -- Paddy Mullen

And coming from someone who once coached linebackers, Toryan Smith is a special player. Don’t be surprised to see Smith come in and have some type of immediate role. He is a linebacker by profession and a running back by need at the high school level -- Toryan Smith

He has the ability to adjust on the run. In other words, after he completes a successful block, he adjusts and looks for another defender. He is not shy in seeking out a linebacker and he has relatively good ability to block in space. -- Chris Stewart

As a runner, Luke has great burst and strength characteristics as he encounters a defender. In other words, he is not a back who is being attacked when encountering a defender, he attacks the defender.-- Luke Schmidt

His athletic maturity is working to catch up with his size. It is sort of like watching a young colt with his long legs looking awkward until everything comes together. --Konrad Reuland

Sam has a defender to his inside, he steps to block the defender, the defender goes down inside, Sam chips him and moves to pancake a linebacker while remaining in a football position. This young man has the potential (and I say potential) to be a great one. -- Sam Young

Thanks. I have a feeling Stewart is going to have a big impact on this team down the road. We have a good O-line. They are solid, athletic and protect BQ very well, but there are no dominating road graders. Stewart, with his size and ability to move, may become that guy.

Can you imagine Young and Stewart on the same side of the line. Thats a lot of meat clearing the way for the back. When the recruits we got this year mature it could be the best oline ever at ND, and if we add a couple more studs this year watch out.

Can you imagine them along with Oglesby and a couple of other dump trucks clearing a path for Aldridge or Prince? Hell, they probably won't even have to break the line until five yards down field. In a tight game where we want to run out the clock and save our backs, we could put in a backup qb, sneak the ball and have him take a knee when the line surge stops! I keed, I keed...but, seriously, meat up front and speed behind is gonna be sweet!

Here's more:

Robby was able to catch passes at all levels – quick slants, stops, intermediate crossing routes, deep routes, the post, the skinny post, post corners and fades. He definitely has soft hands. -- Robby Parris

No player is truly a finished product. But at the high school level, I have seen very few young men play the game the way Eric does. The Notre Dame staff projects Eric on the offensive side of the ball and for good reason. -- Eric Olsen

He is indeed football tough. John is a hard charger who continues to move toward the football on every defensive play. He is also a “want to guy” --John Ryan

At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, I see his frame and size as a perfect fit for the center position. His body type is such that he is balanced correctly in regards to his upper and lower body. --Dan Wenger

George is very productive player. He makes positive plays where there seems to be no escape route. I attribute this to great vision…great peripheral vision. Great return men are like great chess players or great race car drivers. They sense one, two or three moves ahead. He sets up his blockers instinctively. He uses the entire field to attack the cover team.

As Grimes and Hord go into more of a WR role, George West could tandem with Terrail Lambert and help give BQ great field position on kickoff returns.

I think I'd miss Grimes as a returner. I really liked what I saw from him there last year. Hord, not so much. I also find Lambert and West entriguing as returners. Seems like we have a lot of good candidates. Unlike Willingham's last year when the return game was atrocious.

Coach C on Kallen Wade:

Kallen is quick off the ball. His footwork is such that his first step gets him up field with leverage to attack the blocker, the ball carrier, or more importantly the quarterback.

Wade and Neal sound like the pass rushers ND are in need of. Wade will be best served hanging out with Professor Coach Mendoza, as Chmiel mentions. Adding Martin and Trattou into the mix with John Ryan will be a nice solid core of DE.

On Sergio Brown:

I felt from the tapes I watched he’s more quick than fast, perhaps more gifted with small-twitch talents, great feet, and quick moves as opposed to pure breakaway speed

Wow...talk about unabashed support! We really need an active O-Line in the coming years. Whether it's Clausen or Jones or Frazier. The O-Line will be the foundation that Weis' O is built on.

I bet Sam Young starts before the end of the season. Also, I think Luke Schmidt could see some playing time. And the two CB will be playing before the end of the season.

It all starts up front, on each side of the ball.

Schwapp is going to get most of the reps and McConnell has seen very little participation in his career. Good dhance we'll see Schmidt at some.

Sam Young is the best recruit in the class coming in, which is good considering he plays a position where ND is thin and has questions.
