I've read some of this thread, but after last night wanted to really stay away for a few days. But of course, I'm here.
Anyway. I don't get everyone's gripe about the run blocking. Obviously the run game was sub-par. But they stacked the box all night, played 1 on 1 outside, and dared us to throw. With that many in the box, and crashing the line, I'm impressed we didn't get blown up in the backfield even more than we did. The problem I saw with it was not calling more passing plays early. Everyone knew they were going to play that style D and we played in to their hand. I know the weather was shit, but a few quick crossing patters or slants would've helped some.
Kizer either doesn't read defenses or has decided pre snap where he's going with the ball and stares it down. The only time he doesn't, is when he rolls out to pass.
If you don't have a team you think can impose it's will on the opponent, be it the conditions or superior athelets or whatever factor, at least take what they'll give you until you can work in what you want to do. We did neither. We did exactly what they were prepared for and defending and it was embarrassing.
