If you're a member through costco (and looking for a new car) they make the process really easy. log on to costco's website. you enter some info, then a dealer in the area contacts you. but it's the wholesale manager who is 100% less pushy than a salesman. they find you a car, then give you the "costco" price which is basically $500 or so over dealer invoice.

I swore I would never buy a new car again, but my wife said she took no such oath. but this process was quite easy. If I ever buy a new car again, I will use them again.

I've bought a car once; it was with my dad and he was brilliant about it. The key thing to do, IMO, is say you're going to leave and take a look at other places. Then they panic and want to get you to sign right away. Say you absolutely won't do that, and they start pleading with you - then make an absurdly low offer. He saved me one or two thousand bucks that way ...

Well just about everyone seems willing to drop that much right now, but the one that I feel the most comfortable with won't do it. UGH!

Remeber this GG: you have the leverage. You walk...they lose a commission. Once you leave that lot, the chances of them closing the sale decreases 99.9%*.

*Please don't refer to wikipedia or any other site to confirm my estimation of 99.9%. I made it up for the sake of making a point. I have no references to back this statement up...only anecdotal evidence.
