Both Of My Dvd Players Broke Down Within A Week

I thought DVD players were supposed to be pretty durable. On Monday my DVD burner, which I paid $275 for broke. How? Well, it stopped recognizing DVDs. I would put them in, it would analyze things forever, and eventually tell me that it either couldn't read the DVD or there wasn't one in at all. The same thing happened to my other DVD player yesterday.

All the DVDs I put in were clean and they weren't bootlegged or anything.. so I just don't know what's going on. Both are pretty new. I bought the burner in September and the other one in March of '05.

Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions?

Bummer. Have you tried a Laser Cleaner? I've had the same DVD player for nearly 6 years now, heavy use, with no issues.
