Black Shirts?

While checking out the Online Store at UND.com, I noticed they offer an ND t-shirt that displays the ND logo w/ the words "Black Shirts". When I hear that term, I think Nebraska Cornhusker defense under Tom Osborne. Why would ND try to market a tee w/ that moniker? I can just imagine wearing it in public & every college football fan I run into pointing out that Nebraska is home of the black shirts & when did ND steal that nickname.

Does anyone else associate the term "Black Shirts" w/ anything football related other than Nebraska defense?

p.s., UND.com also has the 2006 "The Shirt" on sale for 4.99. Granted it's last year's shirt, but it's a cool tee & for $5, a steal (not that I'm getting a commission or anything).

Did you know they're gonna wear them in the Blue-and-Gold Game this year? And against Georgia Tech? And in the bowl game? And against Navy? And in the home finale? And in all their road games they'll wear white with black numbers?

(Just figured I'd knock all those rumors out of the way early this year.)

I know there was some flap last season about one of the gameday tees mentioning the Irish as Blackshirts...the Bookstore had contracted out the designs to some sports marketing company, and they did a really poor job. That's all I know. I thought I heard something about the basketball team being called blackshirts some time in its history, but that's probably just a random brain fart.

Somebody is simply trying to sell more shirts under the Nike theory that you have to 27 different shirts and 15 different colored/style of hats if you REALLY support your team.

They have a ton of them for sale, cheap, at the ND bookstore "outlet". They obviously didn't go over that well.
