I tried to find the old thread, but couldn't find it (obviously), but I got this from cnnsi.com which got it from the LATimes-

Texas high schools fed 389 players into major college football last summer, according to Scout.com. Florida accounted for 341 and California in a statistically off year 232. "Those are always going to be your three biggest states," said Allen Wallace, the website's national recruiting editor.

good stuff, it would be nice to have it by area rather than state since Texas and Cali will always put more in since they have more players to choose from.. but good stuff...

We'll always be battling in-state powers for those guys, but with Charlie at the helm, some inroads are being made... especially in Florida (seemingly)

Everyone knows Texas, Florida and California are king, but who is the 4th state? Ohio, Pennsylvania, maybe a Southern school. I've asked this before but no one seems to know.

I bet Ohio or Pennsylvania. Virgina and Alabama always have good kids coming out of there too.

There was a study done in Sports Illustrated a year or so ago about the ratio of NFL players to state population.

I believe I remember it to be:
1. Louisiana
2. Mississippi
3. Florida

Lets not forget Georgia, please! We produce some players 7 on the Irish. Ashley McConnell, Toryan Smith, Paul Duncan, Eric Maust, Morrice Richardson, Darius Walker, and Mike Richardson.

When was this? Was it schools or some type of all star game? I know that when Texas all stars play Louisiana all stars that they only take Texas players from the Houston area. They split the state up into regional all star teams.

i think the winner is Indiana. Shark and Gioa from Valpo. Pat Kuntz from Roncalli on the southside of Naptizzile. Aldridge from "the region" don't forget about that sell out ryan baker from indy who went to purdue. muahahaha, i bet he loves that choice

if we are talking per capita...what about New Jersey. I hear a lot about it being a "recruiting hot bed". being a generally small state, i would think they rank right up there.

I remember that story. Per capita, LA and MS send the most players to the NFL. The problem for ND, recruiting-wise, is that the public schools in this part of the country are so bad that even good kids, good students, might not make it past your admissions dept.

On the other hand, there's a ton of Catholic HSs in NO and Baton Rouge. I've always wondered why more of those kids didn't end up at ND.

New Jersey is small in size, but it has the 10th highest population in the United States at just under 9 Million people. That makes it the state with the most residents per square mile.
