that would suck if we got dropped out of BCS contention. If that were to happen what bowl do you think ND would end up in?

Gator or Cotton Bowl. Either won is fine with me.

I think GT is headed for the Gator. And unless they snub GT for West Virginia, I see ND headed to the Cotton if they dont get a BCS bid.

Even if ND drops to 13th they are still eligible. People would scream bloody murder, but they would still get picked. I don't think both Florida and Nebraska lose.

I'm fine with not getting a BCS bowl bid. I think you can make a case for ND over other "eligible" teams, but you can make a case against ND too. If we had a 8 team playoff system, I think at best we'd be a "bubble" team. How do you choose between Louisville and ND? Auburn or ND? I'm fine either way, BCS or no, as long as we win.

I would like to be in a BCS bowl, but if it does not happen the other bowls would be fine to. I just want to win one so bad this year.

The whole Bowl system is kind of a farce. After #1 v #2 for the title who really cares? Let them just make interesting match-ups for ratings and be done with it.

Not sure how the ACC game affected the Irish chances for a BCS bowl: either way, one of WF or GT was going to a BCS game. The only at large team that ND needs to be concerned with is Louisville: there will be 7 conference champions guaranteed (incl Boise St), leaving 3 at large (with Mich and LSU pretty much locks).

If Rutgers lose to WVU, Louisville gets the BE BCS slot, and there is ZERO competition for ND for the 3rd at large. If Rutgers win, Rutgers are the BE champ, get the BCS bid, and ND and Louisville compete for the last spot. I would expect ND to win out due to financial impact to the bowl, but could see the argument for Louisville.

The following teams have virtually zero shot as a BCS at large:
Wisconsin (max 2 teams per conference)
Auburn (same as above)
Ark/Florida loser (same as above)
WVU if they win (can't see them getting picked over ND)
Oklahoma if they lose B-12 title (they will be below ND in rankings, and likely outside top14)

as long as rutgers loses tonight, ND is guaranteed a bcs berth. who else is going to go besides them? the SEC and the Big 10 have 2 teams each. The PAC-10 and Big 12 and the ACC will get one each. Boise State is in. That's 8 teams. If Rutgers loses then just Louisville will make it from the Big East. If Rutgers wins, then it will be either ND or louisville getting that last spot. There are no other teams who could sneak in.

we are only ELIGIBLE for a bcs berth if we are in the top 12. With all the hating going on this year I could totally see WF jumping us, and I could also see either WVU or Rutgers jumping us. We move from 10 to 12 most likely but hey you never know... So I'll be cheering for Nebraska and Florida just to be safe..
