We all know Golden Tate punched Jimmy Clausen right in the eye…

But give us the full details. I’m talking paragraphs on paragraphs of what a douche Clausen was, compounded by what a delightful troll Tate must have been.

(I have my own Clausen story I can share, but I’ll wait for the experts to chime in)
May be a Douche but he's the last real QB we've had .... our QB has sucked.

Id take Jr yr JC over Book, Tommy, Golson, Kizer, Hartman, Leonard

Thanks again for all the insight. It’s truly been a thrill to read through this thread.
Couple of questions about BK: If Notre Dame loses to Stanford and Pitt in 2012 how long does he last? In 2016 how close did he come to getting fired? Were there any candidates who were considered the favorites to take over if he did get the boot?

Who knows. Likely still the same amount of time. 10-2 in 2012 with a bowl win to go 11-2...
In 2016 how close did he come to getting fired?
Close. It wasn't imminent but had he not done as Jack said...he'd have been gone.
Were there any candidates who were considered the favorites to take over if he did get the boot?
I'll let Mercke handle this one..bc the answer might melt minds.

Does your answer for 2012 stay the same if the Bama result played out with UGA in a BCS game?

I say not a chance it was Saban and definitely not Kirby.

I'll guess Urban, Herman or Dantonio

Since Mercke has alluded to it before...the answer is:

Nick Saban.

It also wasn't a one time event. He has had representation reach out around 3-4 times over the last 15-20 years about the job.

Ironically, it was never in a year when the job was actually open. Just when it looked like it might be.

Shocked he would even consider leaving what he built, especially for ND. Just two opposite end of the spectrum in terms of programs.

Was Tebow the real Gainesville crime lord??

I recently met Tebow and took the opportunity to tell him he should have gone to ND. He told me that he visited for a BC game with absolutely miserable weather and ND lost. He claimed that not a single coach ever met with him despite his traveling all the way up there and it really irritated him--although he somewhat understood considering the circumstances. He added that, as a result, he had really wanted a chance to play ND in college and get back at them.

Side note: he really couldn't possibly have been kinder and he's also built like a freight train.

Tim Tebow in Weis' offense would have been a fucking disaster lol

You know more than any of us..... but I find it hard to think Saban would actually take the Notre Dame job.

Had to be some sort of money leverage move. Who knows what he was dealing with behind the scenes in Alabama. But 85% of the studs we think of over the past 15+ years that played for Bama....weren't getting into ND. Everyone especially Saban knows that.

Saban is an old school guy, loves a challenge, and I think people generally underestimate what ND means to a certain generation of football people.

Some of the timeline is foggy but I think he had some interest after 15 and/or 16...as well as after 18.

He was also a rumored name back during the Davie period...and there might have been a time in there during the Weis years.

Saban has always kept tabs on ND.

My guess is because he needed a bargaining chip for something he wasn’t getting? 🤷‍♂️

Which all makes perfect sense. What better way to cement you goat status is to finish it off at the biggest brand in college football. As much as his reputation would have helped, he still wasn't getting those skill players in. Henry Ruggs isn't trying to study... 😆

Promise you it was very legitimate. Saban didn't need leverage at Bama. He was basically naming his price on all his contracts.

and if there was a guy with the pelts on the wall to get ND to change some of it's tired ways..it was Saban.
Facts, and I believe you. He may have been the guy that could walk in and win it all.

So with all that said...million dollar question. Would he be an immediate backup plan if Marcus Freeman disappeared in the next 3 years? Or at 73 is he done?
