Floyd is STILL 2nd on the team in receiving yards?

That is bad considering how many games we have had without him.

What do you guys think?

I think it just shows how amazing Little Man Tate really is. He is getting triple covered and still going off. 27.5 yards a catch through 3 games will also give you a nice cushion.

It also shows how Floyd was tearing it up when he was playing.

I agree partially.

One of the things this shows you is that we currently do not have any other receivers on the level that Michael Floyd and Golden Tate play on. Once Golden Tate and Michael Floyd are gone, there will be a significant drop in exciting plays in the passing game (ie: Floyd bringing down a ridiculous catch, Tate breaking seventy tackles for the score). It'll be the hangover from the best receiving duo of all time, at least at Notre Dame.

Not really because we've had to spread the ball around with Floyd out. If our tackles were anywhere near acceptable in pass blocking Rudolph would have passed him by now.

Or if Clausen had better pocket presence and stepped into the pocket to deliver a throw instead of rolling out (this was especially noticeable against BC, and on occasion vs USC).

Anyway, this shows several things:

1. Mike Floyd was extremely productive.
2. Golden Tate has been extremely productive in his absence.
3. Clausen is doing a good job spreading the ball around (a lot of different WRs/RBs have a handful of receptions)
4. The players behind Floyd aren't as talented (since Floyd is one of the best SOPH's in all of college football, this would be true on any team).

Maybe JC doesn't mesh with the other receivers as well as Tate and Floyd. I don't think it's that we have bad receivers, some just haven't been given the opportunity.

Think about it, if Weis has a 3-receiver set, on a passing play, that means there are 5 different options for JC to look at. He will look at Tate 1st, Rudolph 2nd, Allen 3rd, etc. depending on the play call.

I think it's a pat on the back to Floyd, though it would be nice to see someone step up.

My concern is when we lose Floyd/Tate to pro sports.

Why aren't we using Rudo more?

Because he was kept in to block, and keep Clausen alive, the last couple of games.

Yeah, all good points. I guess it has only been what 4 games? That would be like 80 yards per game for another receiver to catch him.

Just thought it was weird when I first saw it.

Thanks for the input from everyone!

Clausen has also spread the ball around alot

Kamara stepped up at BC
Parris against USC
Allen, Rudolph, Goodman, Hughes, and Shaq have also gotten receptions
