I have seen no indication that the Irish can run an up tempo offense. I find myself many times during a game hollering at the tv. SNAP THE BALL!

I didn't get a chance to actually watch the game live. Thanks for posting the link.

Just by watching AM's first drive, I notice a resemblance between Manziel and Golson. I think Golson can carve out some yardage against Bama with his scrambling. One thing is obvious, it will be difficult to run, run, pass against this defense. But some quick throws and perhaps a QB run play will keep Bama on their toes. To be honest, I don't want to get into a boxing match with Bama. It's not that I don't think we can go toe-to-toe with them...it's that I know we're capable of airing it out AM-style and attacking Bama's seemingly weak secondary. That will open up some lanes for Cierre and Theo in the second half.

Hard to not be ranked in the top 25 when every team you play all year (minus the 3-4 fcs schools all sec teams play) are ranked top in the preseason top 25. When you win everyone thinks you really did something special and when you loose its like ahh not so bad they were ranked top 15. Texas a&m is a big 12 team with a fancy new quaterback. But now that they are in the sec they are a big deal.
Kinda sounds like one of those, the SEC is overrated and their fans are arrogant type post.

^ agree I do the same thing. Now that EG has a better understanding of the "O" i hope the focus on bringing in that up tempo to start.
On the other hand Kelly way want to see if they can execute a long methodical drives to keep the "D" fresh.

Bama is bama, but after T A&M n georgia n LSU, its pretty clear this is not the dominating team that won the NCG

You're correct, and I think you would have to search far and wide to find an Alabama fan that would make that claim....you simply do not lose the talent that we lost without a little rebuilding effort...it happened in 2010, but the difference between 2010 and this year is that this year's Alabama team simply will not quit. And also this year's Alabama team is the first Alabama offense to put up over 500 points in a season, with 2 rbs rushing for over 1,000 yards.

And while this year's defense is "mediocre" relative to the 08,09, and 11 D's it ain't chopped liver. Lots and lots of talent out there that has had it's youth and inexperience exposed at times, specifically in the secondary. I would imagine that the 40 + day layoff will do the Alabama defense a lot of good in terms of getting back to fundamentals, getting healthy, and installing new packages.

As for fast paced, see Pitt and USC early on. Extremely efficient until the redzone... The key will be too use quick passes to gain 4-6 yds, attack the middle when they're spread out, and keep it 3rd and short. We've done that all year. And if we keep a fast pace then the late 2nd halfwill be much easier

So I take it we have gotten worse, is that what your saying?

Michigan played against Tommy Rees for 90% of that game. With Golson, we wouldn't have scored in the 40s like you guys, but Golson's not a 13 point per game QB, either. The only thing we could compare with relative accuracy would be how our defense played against Michigan compared to Alabama's.

Vs. Michigan.

Alabama gave up 14 points, 269 yards of offense.

ND gave up 6 points, 299 yards of offense.

Lot's of things to consider, though. A) Golson wasn't playing. B) You guys played them game one, we played them game 4. C) You guys blew them out, so IDK how long your starting D was actually on the field.
