Honestly, by going from shady southern bagmen to private equity and Dave Portnoy, we might have somehow downgraded in the overall morality of the sport.Except for conference realignment killing the geographic regionality of the sport and the creation of a obviously compromised committee to determine playoff at-larges, I like nearly every change to college football in recent years. I much prefer NIL and pay-for-play over the under the table stuff the sport was marred with for decades. I also like 5 for 5 over the redshirt/blackbox waiver system that never seemed to go our way. 10-15 players nationally getting to return to play for a 6th year one more time because the NCAA didn't extend the waiver they should've isn't going to cause me to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I feel like the board is largely shrugging all of this stuff off because ND is thriving and I can respect and appreciate that. But, I also see the bigger picture and the drift into minor league territory. If I get anxious about ND winning a title, its so they can win one while it's still respected and not the equivalent of the PCL or G-League.
