I was just curious if anyone had the exact quote of jimmy clausen guaranteeing 4 national championships. I havent been able to find it.

He didn't say it, that's why you can't find it. I think it was blown out of proportion. He was asked a Q:, and said he hoped we (ND) win four NC. That's how I recalled it when I read it. Media hype.

I hope he garentees it. Hes going to be my fave player if he starts from the beginning this year even though he looks like a physco. that would be a record 4 national champs in 4 years.( at least i would think its a record)

a guarantee would be a very bad idea in my opinion. just win the games. no need to talk it up. he has enough of a target on himself already.

If you think about it...it's unrealistic. If he's good enuf qB to lead ND to 4 NCs, there's no way he'd stick around for that 4th year.

I suppose, technically, there's a slim chance. If Weis can recruit enough studs on both sides of the ball in order to have a dominating defense & enuf skill players on offense that Clausen doesn't stand out as the sole source of production. But that would mean that there's a lot of hidden gems on campus at this point & the next few yrs will produce a class similar to Vinny Cerrato's last class.

why would he leave? I mean i can understand some people leaving if they won that at other universities but this is Notre Dame. Its tradition to graduate.

Exactly. It was a bit of hyperbole that didn't translate well to the written page, and then went thru a million retellings and got completely changed.

I can't find it, but what he said was that he was coming to ND and his plan was to win 4 NCs. There was no "guarantee" per se.

I'm not sure where people started believing that he guaranteed to win 4 of them. He definitely didn't. As LMY said, Claussen said something along the lines of "I'm going to ND am going to try to win 4 NC's" or something like that. I know he never used the guarantee word.
