Looks like he just decided he wanted to stay closer to home.

The Houston track and field coaching staff might've had some sway on him. Carl Lewis and Kerron Clement ( 2 X Olympic gold medals, 1 silver, plus multiple world championship golds) are on staff. ND's coaches are fine, but nowhere near that pedigree. If I were serious about track, and had the talent to excel at it while staying close to home, I'd probably take that choice as well.

Only way that makes sense is if Fitzgerald and Finley both gave their verbals this weekend

That wouldn't make sense either, you take him over Fitz! Wonder how much Track played a part in this, but other then Finley they should've made sure to try to land him.

Yeah, when your final group is three B-tier Tejas schools…that pretty much says it all.

Sure it's Houston, might be Track involved in the decision
