...meet him when he camps at Notre Dame this summer.
“I definitely plan on attending Notre Dame,” he told
Blue & Gold at Prep Football Report analyst
Tom Lemming’s Chicagoland prospect showcase on Sunday. “They are one of the few that sent me a camp invite. Tennessee and NC State have both sent me camp invites.
“I am going to really be thinking about what camps I’m going to attend. Notre Dame will definitely be one.”
Nasir Rankin hopes to add Notre Dame offer
The fact that the Irish are investigating Rankin should not come as a surprise. In the previous two recruiting cycles, they targeted Chicago area wide receivers.
In 2024, Notre Dame signed Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West’s
Cam Williams , the No. 47 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver in the class. In 2025, they hope to add the No. 82 overall player and No. 10 wide receiver in Geneva (Ill.) Community’s
Talyn Taylor .
Like Williams and Taylor, Rankin is also a prospective top-100 recruit.
One primary recruiting media service already considers him the No. 46 player in his class.
He, too, would like to add the Fighting Irish to his offer sheet and would consider following Williams’ path by committing to Notre Dame.
“It would mean a lot to get an offer because they’re pretty close to home,” he said. “I know it’s in Indiana, but it’s real close to home. Staying home would mean a lot to me because I would be close to my family and stuff like that.”
The Irish still have plenty of time to determine if they offer Rankin. But if they are as serious as they say about prioritizing Chicago recruits, it would not be a surprise to see it happen soon — at least it might not be to Rankin.
“They recruit pretty hard in Chicago,” he said. “I’ve definitely noticed that.”
