I don't recall ever taking this poll, but I remember posting somewhere that we would win 9-10 games during the regular season. 10 wins including a 2nd-tier bowl victory over a respected SEC team is more than satisfactory this season. CANNOT take a step back next year, however, or it's all for naught.

A lot like UGA, a loss to Michigan (though the last thing anyone round here can handle) would most likely do little to keep ND out of the CFP if they win vs Tree, @VT, @NW, FSU, @SC and the lesser games including Navy in distracting San Diego.

If we can pass the eye test again like we did for 3/4 of this year, I think a 1 loss ND has a very, very good shot of making the playoffs, with this schedule.

I thought 8, maybe 9 with a bowl win, we got 10... Disappointed on how we finished but we exceeded expectations.

MY problem is I thought 2018 was the playoff year, but we still don't have a QB and I'm not sure we will have one week 1 against Mich, and a loss to them sets us behind big time

I said 8. I usually go too optimistic but I decided to try to be a more rational fan after a 4-8 season. Screw that noise. Nothing but unhinged, shamrock-tinged optimism from here on out!

With regards to the QB situation, it's a tough situation. Do Kelly and company try to develop Book & Wimbush into 1A & 1B? One guy is the starter but on a real tight lease that gets yanked if he screws up. Or, evaluate which one is better and push all your chips on developed that QB into The Guy. I don't propose to have an easy answer, but I do prefer the latter scenario.

I don't think we drop a dumb one this year. With a new staff and renewed focus, I think our only losses would be USC and either Miami or Stanford.

I was in the ball park. Although not in this thread but somewhere I think I said 11 wins so I was a little too optimistic.
