Okay, I posted my football observations in the General section.
Wow! That's all I can say. I took my aging mother (ND is a bucket list item) and my 15 yo daughter, who is interested in going there. We went through an admissions meeting, and took the tour. Our guide is best friends with the only person I know at ND right now, so that was a plus. They are on the volleyball team. We took a lot of wrong turns, and ended up going in the Leahy entrance first. So my kid says "mmm, I expected it to be a little prettier" to which I agreed but still picked on her for saying. All we saw were the parking lot and building construction.
The admissions info opened my daughters' eyes for sure. She just finished her Fr year, and got her first B ever after tanking (76) her geometry final. She avg'd 96 on her other 6 finals, with the hardest schedule allowed. She got the point about grades without me having to say a word.
because school has been relatively easy for her, I think she thought she's just walk in the door no questions asked. Now she is worried that her first B could keep her out, which suits me fine.
I won't go into each building, but the whole place is incredible. Now I know why the meal plan is so expensive! Plus, I gained 5 pounds on this trip, and my mom 4 pounds. Inside the basillica, uh........no words. Couldn't see the outside with all the scaffolding. I'd like to go back when there isn't so much construction, cause that was going on everywhere. All for a good cause though!
Now I know the lay of the land, we are hoping to come in for our first game this fall, against one of the lower tier teams, so it will be easier to get tix. Now I know the roads when you guys talk about this side of campus, etc. And I know where the bad side of town is, cause it happened to be where our hotel was.
I could talk forever, but theres no sense. Thanks to those (who I won't name) that helped me plan my trip. I don't want everyone hitting you up for advice, unless you want that. You know who you are.
