1st Grade Irish Fan

I teach first grade. We are learning about bar graphs and before the season, I had all the kids tell me their favorite football teams. In a sea of SEC teams, one little boy, Ryan, says NOTRE DAME!
So, I put the teams on a huge wall graph in the hallway and each week, we graph the number of touchdowns scored over the weekend.

With teams like Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama I am sure you know what Notre Dame looks like on the graph. It irks me everytime I look at it.

So today while lining up for lunch Ryan and I are looking at the graph. I said "That just makes me sad". He says "Yeah. But I got an F on my spelling test last week and my mother said she still loves me so I guess we have to still love the Irish"

I still want to pull the stupid graph down though

Just tell him that if he waits a couple of years he'll get to rub in in the noses of all those little SEC fans when the Irish take home the NC.

I always play college football songs right before dismissal on Fridays. On the way to the bus, several of my kids were singing "There's a magic in the sound of their name..."
