ND's first Rover offer for '19. Moved up to LB from safety last year.

Runs a 22 flat 200m. Elite athletic skill set for the position.

Visited for a game last season, slow offer unfortunately. A lot of ground to make up. Teammate of S Makari Paige who ND has an eye on.

Junior LB Lance Dixon: Notre Dame ‘a top school for me’

Notre Dame offered versatile outside linebacker Lance Dixon is January, a nice fit for the rover position. The 2019 Michigan prospect has the Irish high on his list.

Notre Dame has done an outstanding job of finding quality fits for its rover linebacker position over the last two recruiting cycles. In West Bloomfield (Mich.) rangy junior linebacker prospect Lance Dixon, the Irish may have found another ideal fit for the position.

Dixon produced well at linebacker this fall after spending his earlier high school years at the safety position. Clearly, his background in both the back end and up front at outside linebacker gives the 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect the unique skill set the Irish look for at rover linebacker.

On Friday, Jan. 19, the Irish offered Dixon, who is well-known to the Irish.

“I’ve been talking to (Notre Dame) since the Georgia game at the beginning of the season,” Dixon said. “Now they’re dropping by the school a lot more. It’s a nice school. I mean, I’ve been up there twice. The Georgia visit was my second visit. Really good history to the program at Notre Dame. It’s a top school for me.”

“Clark Lea was the one who came up to the school. He’s a good guy. He seemed cool. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about with the defense.

“They’re recruiting me at the hybrid linebacker spot, where I can cover and come up and hit.”

Since earning the Irish offer, Dixon picked up additional offers from Boston College and Ohio State, and he attended Penn State Junior Day this weekend.

Along with Boston College, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, Dixon holds offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and several others (21 total).

Following his 11-3 season at West Bloomfield, Dixon has been consistently hearing from several Big Ten programs and plans to take multiple visits prior to his senior season, including a third trip to Notre Dame.

“I’ll probably visit sometime in the summer,” Dixon said.

The Irish can afford to take their time at linebacker in the 2019 class after landing an exciting quartet in the 2018 class (assuming they don’t add another on National Signing Day).

At the rover linebacker position, Dixon is certainly one to watch.

Also, those rankings arent updated. He’s 161 on 247 and a composite 277, overall. He even got the Elko Rover offer from A&M.

I’d bet he’s pretty high on the rover list. They’re probably much more excited about this than that 3 star indicates.

Looks the part. Probably someone who will blow up and we'll be lacking an offer and on the outside looking in late in the cycle :)

He’s been offered by ND already, as well as PSU, OSU, and UM. He’s already pretty big time. #161 overall per 247 is pretty good.
