do you guys realize that if we give out 25 scholarships this year and the 6 seniors that are eligible come for a 5th year---we will only have 10 scholarships for the 2009 class.

Yes, but nobody thinks we will/should bring back all six potential fifth-years, nor do most people think we will/should use up all 25 scholarships.

but if they play well enough and they want to come back...what do you do? do you "sacrafice" the future by using 6 less scholarships?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaack - am I really going to have to have this argument all over again? Well, I'm not. Suffice it to say that there's no reason to think that more than 3-4 of the current seniors will have a shot at returning for '08, so your hypothetical is a non-issue.

I'm sure Charlie's got the situation well in hand, and I'm damn sure he doesn't agree with your "Let's Max Out and Screw the Seniors!" approach to the current crop of scholarship offers.

I found the quote about Yeatman interesting. With the quality TEs on the roster, and coming next year, that seems like a win-win. Yeatman goes on a lacrosse schollie and, it frees up a FB roster spot.

"Notre Dame was probably the prettiest place I've seen,"

And it's under construction still too. It looks pretty ratty in places. But they're laying the sod down and planting a few more trees so it's going to be back to its gorgeous self in another few weeks.

7 to be exact. Right now with the recruits we have only 6 can come back. 1 has now been excluded. (it was 2, but Yeatman bailed)

So there is room for 6 5th years...each new recruit takes a spot.

------Blog rumor with nothing to back it up.

I understand that with recruiting it is a game of patience, but does anyone else have a bad vibe for the remaining spots that we have left open. I’m sure everything is rumors, but it isn’t a guarantee that we land Floyd, Baldwin, Robinson, Williams or Sabino. For example, a couple weeks ago some guy was betting his nuts that we would get JBrown. Obviously Sign Day isn’t here yet, but by the looks of it, in February, some Irish fan will no longer be able to procreate. Worst case scenario if we don’t get any of them, we just need to thankful that we have a solid class so far.

It looks like Floyd is going to wait till the middle of the season to make his choice, so is it safe to say that TRobinson might be the next one to commit?
