Surprising offer this late. He plays with a friend of mine's son at MP. It's ASU and Washington in a two team race. He's LDS too so a hard pull from the west. Nice to know Coach Lyght is in AZ. A lot of ND level, yet under valued student athletes come out of AZ.

Runs in the high 4.5's and is a legit 6-4. Very interesting specs for the position.

Scout: ASU and Washington are recruiting him the hardest. He wants to OV to ND. Plans to take his time and make the right choice

The only reason it's not a UDub lock is where he lives and his teammates who are going to ASU.

Hearing it from both sides I think it's another UDub player. Very interesting prospect. All kinds of talent with multi-position possibilities.

If he can stay at FS, could be one of the best in the class otherwise he could be a fast OLB with plus length and superior coverage skills.

I hope he visits and brings his little brother - that is who I want. Both are a long shot at best, but if we start now on Matthew, anything could happen.

That's tough to wrap your head around. Dude looks like a 30 year old union iron worker.

“My mom is loving Notre Dame. She’s pushing Notre Dame on me,” said Pola-Mao. “I know she would be happy if I did [go there]."

What is LDS?? And regarding the mission, I believe you're thinking of Chaz Ah-You. That what I thought too at first but totally different kid. A 6'4 (I'll believe it when I see it) + top 247 safety?? I'll take it! Do what your mommy says!

Left Defensive Safety.

His two year mission would be to start his junior and senior years.

Oh OK. I did some reading and this kid isn't the safety going on a two year mission. Also he apparently REALLY turned some heads at the opening and as a result he is now ranked #93 overall by 247. This is an off topic question open to anyone....I take 247's rankings most seriously THEN look at composite. Who do you guys look at as most legitimate regarding rankings?

Hahaha. Oh...I didn't know about the JR/SR mission. Honestly, I wouldn't take a kid who isn't going to be available to play for TWO YEARS during his time at ND... I would rather go with someone else. Seems like staff doesn't look at it that way though. How does this work regarding their eligibility? Do they get to come back and play another 2-3 years?

Considering he's LDS I wonder where the two year mission fits in.

Not all LDS take their missions. Manti never did. In fact, there are numerous NFL players that have mentioned doing it after they retire. Not saying he's not going to do it but its certainly not a guarantee and hasn't been for awhile.

I believe they can come back and play out all of their eligibility 4 years, they just don't get the option for a redshirt. Can anyone confirm that?

Only instance I can recall is Badger ... he came back and played, but I don't think he played a season before he left.

I should've been more specific, I wasn't looking for confirmation on ND specific players but the rules in general. I'm pretty sure that BYU routinely has guys that are 24-25 years old which must mean they took their missions and were still allowed the 4 years of eligibility.

Yeah it's not required but rather encouraged. Usually males do it at ages 19-21 and women 21-24. I use to work for a company based in SLC and made trips out there. Became familiar with all things LDS.

I'm fully aware. However, that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with his recruitment. Again, many prospects over the years have deferred their missions. Pola Mao might be one of those.
