“Northwestern came by my practice. I talked to the coaches and it was alright. I’m just trying to increase things more with Notre Dame.”
Youngquist hasn’t had much contact with the Irish lately, but he did visit South Bend during the summer and he’s definitely a target on Notre Dame’s 2016 board. If – or when – the Irish do turn up the heat on Youngquist, they’ll be right in the mix to land the Rancho Cucamonga native.
“It was everything,” Youngquist said of why his experience at Notre Dame left him so high on the program. “The campus was amazing. The atmosphere, it’s an atmosphere where you can’t put into words. It’s unbelievable.”
The people in South Bend made just as big an impression, if not a bigger one.
“Everyone there is just all about success,” he said. “The players are there for a purpose, coaches are there for football. It’s an educational-based school and that’s what I really love about it. It’s more of a get-it-done atmosphere, it’s not just football.
“That makes Notre Dame so different compared to a lot of other colleges. They’ve got it all in one. It’s hard to explain.”
The junior linebacker was one of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Selections and was sent 129 pieces of mail from South Bend at the beginning of September.
“It was too much to handle,” he told ISD at the time. “Once I got it, I was like, ‘Oh my goodness. What am I supposed to do with all of this mail?‘”

Pretty impressive film. Good short area burst and seems to get off blocks well. Judging from his comments it does seem strange that ND hasnt offered him yet. Hopefully one is coming soon.
