Ever since our butting kicking of Hawaii last year in the Hawaii Bowl. I have been having dreams of the Irish going 11-1 with the only lose coming to USC only if USC is off too a good start.

agreed. got to be 12-0. that, in all honesty, is gonna be the only way we have a successful year. i know, big goal, but the only team on the schedule we are SUPPOSED to lose to is USC. So beat the hell out of them and get the critics to STFU. then national championship game as underdog against...... hmmmm. texas or cal im gonna say.

Actually, florida and oklahoma both did.

with our lax schedule though, which if it has 2 top 25 teams in it at the end of the season it would surprise me, we need to beat SC to get in. a lose to say pitt and beat SC, then maybe, but thats a big maybe.

Okay, when it's posted twice in the same thread, I have to call it out: please use the word loss not lose. We would be a one LOSS team, not a one lose team.

Yup. 11-1 and a loss to USC means no signature win vs. anyone in the top 15-20, unless by way of miracle MSU or Pitt gets there. ND won't sniff the title game with a loss to USC, too many teams with powder puff OOC games will be there (Penn State, FL, Alabama, etc..)

ND florida would make the best matchup by far.... alot of side storys involved with meyer, holtz, recruiting, etc.

but there is a possability ND could make it with one win, but alot would have to happen that no one is predicting, like NDinLA stated, MSU, PITT, and Stanford would have to have surprise years.

Notre Dame draws more attention and creates more profit than any other team in the county, and the BCS is all about revenue.

I don't know IA. I'm as big a homer as the next guy, but even I can't see ND getting to the NC with only one win. I'd say they need a minimum of three wins to get in. I know, I'm a 'hater' and a 'troll', but seriously, I just think that we have to beat Nevada, Navy and UW, and THEN I think we get there. Just one man's opinion though...

i could see that happening, i think by the second win ESPN might run a special about how ND could be the best team in the last decade, but thats just from a fan and "homer". but i would have to agree with you 3 wins at least and NC here we come....

I see it too. 3 wins and we play Florida in the NC. We win that and Weis is fired for only having 4 wins and they hire Urban Meyer right there on the 50 yard line. Weis gets his title, Meyer gets his "dream job" and Irish Envy gets potential posts until forever. Everyone goes home happy.

There is no committe to be ignored by. The National Championship game is determined by who is ranked 1 and 2. If Florida and Oklahoma are undefeated they will be ranked higher than us. Not only are they ranked higher to start the year but they are percieved to play stronger opponents. They also play in Conferencechampionship games which will be against another high profile team and will be able to make the last impression.

im sure there would be some influencing factor that would get an undefeated ND team into the championship over an undefeated big 12 team, we already know if florida runs the table they are in.

I know its supposedly done by computer but the BCS isnt stupid, if they had a chance to get ND in the championship game, especially if it were against florida theyd find a way for the computers to make it show ND as one of the top two teams.

I don't think that would happen. Personally I think the coaches would vote just enough (or less?) to keep ND out of the top2.
Frankly I am not worried about it. Finish in the Top10 with a BCS game and I'll be more than happy.
